A fellow who's more talented at Photoshop than I named Ouze made a pair of new signature images for me. I saved them to my computer, but when I went to upload them to the Dakka Gallery the color comes out all screwed up. Tested a couple other images and it only happens to these two that I can find.

So those are the correct colors? Could you post up some incorrect ones (via the gallery I guess)?

Glanced at your gallery and didn't see them there... although I did see some awesome nids conversions

Couldn't be something as simple as your selecting the "auto-correct" image option in the gallery when you upload them? I always leave that unchecked, as it seems to change the contrast of the image...

Yeah I'm not seeing them in your gallery (I'm guessing you deleted them?).

It would definitely be helpful to see the 'screwed up' versions compared to the originals.

Also, when you uploaded them to the gallery did you select the 'image correction' feature that the gallery offers or not?

I hadn't finished the uploads because of the messed up colors in the previews. Here's what it gives me though. The auto correct isn't any better, but I can't show those because it won't let me upload two copies of the pictures.

Well, its definitely because the images have a transparency on them. So you're seeing the alpha channel (transparency) compressed with the actual image. I don't think the gallery is configured to allow for transparencies. If it is possible Lego will have to comment on what to do or if it is something that is worth taking the time to configure.

Hmmm... Darn, because they were definitely cooler than my current ones.

Wow, I just tried it out... that's crazy! I don't know what's going on there... it's definitely over my head.

(Also, I guess it's not possible to put pics in your sig that aren't hosted in the gallery?)

Yes it is! You better believe that xbox live banner I have in my sig isn't hosted in the gallery! You just need to use html to link to the other sites.

So if he wanted to use those images hosted from his photobbucket account he would use this html code in his sig (I've include the embedded links to his threads in there as well):

But it appears those images are in Ouze's photobucket so I'm guessing he doesn't want to link to that account...so we'll just have to wait for Lego log on and let us know if the issue with transparent images in the gallery is something intentional, a bug fix, or just something that is harder to implement than its worth (because frankly, I don't know!).

Except I think photobucket would show no images at all within a few days, since Dakka would cause it to go overlimit, as Aduro has some heavily traffic threads... I don't really know a free image hosting account that would be appropriate. I bet you guys do, though.

Yak is correct. All images are re-encoded as .jpg in the gallery, so anything with transparency will never work. I have no intention of supporting it either as a lot of things rely on a common format for stored gallery images, while the types of images that use transparency tend to be less interesting to browse through (like signature images, icons, etc) and are better suited to external image hosts like photobucket, etc.

OK, so is there a free image host you could could recommend for storing signature images that won't fall apart under Dakka's use? I know I thought photobucket was pretty good until I came here and found out it's massively blocked at work, etc etc.
