I've heard mixed reviews about using bike squads in Black Templars armies. Friends have said that bikes are a good thing to have yet a particular article on Bolter and Chainsword says to avoid them like the plague. What do you think? Are they a viable unit?

Don't know, but if you're planning on using some, the DA bikes look pretty good for BT.

While the BIKES are extra expensive, the PLASMA GUNS are stupidly cheap.

I would recommend that you try a squad of 3 bikes with 3 Plasma guns. They are relentless, fast, and you have great weapon density.

Compared to the marine book, you get a slightly cheaper Bike with a Plasma Gun (38 vs 40), but i would not recommend taking extra bikes for the wounds.


There are a few things in the BT book that are much cheaper, Terminator Assault Cannons are much less and can be given tank hunters, and plasma guns are cheap everywhere.

I've personally found attack bike squads to be great. They work well with templars. Regular bikes have the benefit of getting 3 special weapons, but tbh I would rather take attack bike. Better range and more wounds.
