So I've been pinning my larger metal models such as my hive tyrant and hive guard, but I wasn't sure if I should with the smaller models. I'm planning on getting a squad of stormtroopers and I wasn't sure if I should pin those or if I could just glue them without too much problem. Thanks dakka.

If you can fit a pin in then pin it.
But it depends on how often you game with them too.
Hard use= better pin it.
Display= not such a big deal.

So the only non-connected part on the kasrkin is the backpack? That's kind of interesting. I'll probably pin them then since I plan on using them for games. I'm still pretty bad at painting.

yea, they have a slot and hole for the backpacks, so in effect they are already pinned, just use a thick CA glue...or JBweld, that works good.

Score the contact surfaces with a knife and join the parts with a minute quantity of epoxy putty.
