Hey there everyone on dakka so I've been offline for quite sometime and decided to well for one get back into the fourms and secondly I wanted to ask for some advice, so I started thinking about college and decided I wanted to go to one in a different country (it'd probably be easier to get a job when an employer sees I got a higher education in a different country, but mostly to experience a new culture) but I dont really think Id be able to get into one in a different country. Is this probably true or am I just being too hard on myself?
If it helps my chances Im decent with/learning French and Russian can anyone give me any advice?

Go to school in the US.
We have, on average, the best higher education system in the world. This is reflected in the hiring habits of US corporations.
Additionally, unless you're targeting private school (in which case check out Canada), you should hit your local, major University; money taken at average, of course.
Remember, you can always study abroad.

My missus did het degree at UCSB then did her masters at York in England, and she says everything about it was cheaper. Even though she had to pay more as she is American.
Make sure its a good university though. I wouldn't totally discount the idea of studying abroad, but If it ain't a world top 100 I wouldn't bother my ass, and there are some fine universities in the US.
World top 3 are all American right?
Although, I doubt you can afford Harvard!

World's top 4 universities are, as of September 21 of this year:
1. University of Cambridge, England.
2. Harvard University, USA
3. Yale University, USA
4. UCL (University College London), England
Seems fairly even at the top between us.
Still, you have to pay megabucks to study in the US, I hear.

UC is terrible about cost. I paid more than any human should, for undergrad, and I still would have paid more abroad once traveling, housing, food, and conversion are considered.
If you really, really want to study elsewhere, then check out the AU system, and China. Both very good, both very underrated.

Surely Universities in the US offer the opportunity to study overseas for some time? You might find that to be a better option, though I certainly do recommend foreign travel in some form or another.

Unless you go private, going abroad generally costs more than staying at home. So, you can go abroad, but money is an issue.
As an aside, South Africa has the best abroad programs. And penguins roam the streets in some seasons!

"And Penguins roam the streets..."
Let's put in a novel or something;
"The Gods had abandoned them. The Lords feasted in their marble palaces, the people below hungered and Penguins roamed the streets."
I think we've found the start of another fantastic trilogy.

Well thankyou for the advice, well my thing is higher education in the US cost megabucks and there is no way im going to even be accepted into harvard or yale I can safely say the chances of all religion in the world being denounced is more likely to happen. It isnt always more expensive to study in a different country to be honest, for example I recently was told about Lomonosov Moscow State University its tuition is about 180,000 rubles (5,000 USD) though im not exactly sure I would be very likely to get in (despite many travel things says it has an excellent international student program) Know what I mean? Im not looking for the top 100 in the world I just want something in a different country that dosent cost mega bucks ya'know?
The main reason is I want to be able to study and experience new things and new cultures hence the reason I wish to study outside of the US, also even if I did get accepted to harvard or yale I seriously doubt I would be able to afford that without taking a loan that would put me in debt for a big portion of my life. To be honest I honestly do think i'd be better off without going to a university and such I really do.
South Africa was ranked second for murder and first for assaults and rapes per capita, so im thinking going there for schooling would be one of the worst ideas in my life, though I will admit I have never seen a penguin before and would like too, but still no

As a current disgruntled squid I will say WORST IDEA EVER
I would also recommend the US school system. I did a year in Australia and was kinda shocked at how lax it was in some ways. I had to sign a waiver to take more than 13 hours... which is barely a full time student in the US. The humanities programs were good, but the multivariable calculus and optics classes I took were a joke.
Do you live in California? I know UCR has a great language program, I went there for a semester. UCSD has a great Earth Sciences department, integrated w/ Scripps, one of the best in the world. Obviously Berkley is aces.
Plus, in the US it is was easier to network based on connections that you make in college. If you go to school in Moscow, how likely are you to run into someone who is also an alum and can help you out? Not very likely. That might sound minor, but I've had alumni connections play off HUGE for me, although that is partly the nature of the military. If you are really worried about expense, do an ROTC or PLC program. Free college, guaranteed job at graduation. But for the love of god, don't go Navy.

I would advise going to a school in the States OP.

Moscow is ranked first in places that are pwned by Vladimir Putin.
Georgia (the nation) is ranked second.
Followed by Georgia (the state) a distant turd.
