I haven't used red paint as I find it eats too many points when applied to all trucks. Meganob units crack open vehicles and beef up boys units in assault. I haven't got a Big Mek with KFF, too many points, and impossible to keep all the trucks in his range. I get cover saves from hiding behind terrain and my own vehicles where possible.
The aim is to move 18 inches turn one and get off multiple charges turn 2. This works against greyhunters and long fangs (my main opponent). I'm sure the Imperial Guard would kill it quick but I don't come up against them. Any and all feedback is welcome. Please be aware this is an unashamedly tailored list.

... more boyz?
I'd personally swap the massive point sink (the nobz in the trukk) for another two trukks full of boyz. Because you can still have 2 nobz with powerklaws.
Either that or get a transport for the mega-nobz, either that or just drop then entirely. This looks to be a speek-freak list and slow and purposeful doesn't really fit in.
Apart from that, I would have problems with this lost when I use my footsloggin' boyz, so that's probably a bonus!

Sorry Brutii11, the Meganob Units are actually in trukks, the formatting got messed up, have fixed it now. More Boyz: You hit the nail on the head with this one, I do tend to start running out of them in late game phases. The nob unit in trukk.... we'll have to see... I like the damage they can cause.

Only concern would be if the Nob trukk gets wasted early. Thats a big point sink/heavy hitting unit now footslogging backfield
Point taken about using cover/other units but even with a 4+ save they arent the strongest transports in the game.
What about putting them on bikes? They can still keep pace but it means it isnt "all eggs in one basket"?

OK here goes, My nobs actually started as bikers but they die to missile spam and jaws, so I basically put them in a truck. Yes, Truck does go pop. Then the Nobs kick Boyz out of their trukk (Boyz go find an objective to sit on) and nobs climb into the boyz trukk and zoom off. By turn two I am hopefully charging into combat, after moving 18 inches on turn 1.
However, ditching them and the warboss entirely IS a very tempting proposition. I have been thinking I can get
option 1: Ghazzy and more trukk boys (+68pts spare)
option 2: Ghazzy and another meganobs in trukk unit (+50pts spare)
option 3: keep current warboss get more meganobs in trukk and more trukk boys.
Meganobs work well for me as they have a 2+ save versus missiles. I don't get wound allocation or feel no pain saves, in this scenario:
7 out of ten games for me are probably versus SW with lasplas razorbacks, ten man hunter squads, 13-15 missles, and wolf guard combi-melta squad. The alternative is tyranid hive guard spam, with carnifexes, and tyrannofexes.
I might get to face mech-dar, or blood angels but not so often.

Sorry i need to point out you can't have big choppas and sluggas at the same time. The big choppas are 2 handed.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I checked my codex and it does appear that the Choppa is replaced by the Big Choppa and the Slugga is retained. (codex pg 33). The Slugga can be used in the shooting phase should the Nob not WAGGGHHH. In CC the Big Choppa requires 2 hands to use therefore he can't claim the bonus of the 2 Close Combat weapons. (pg 42 rule book) On the charge a Nob with Big Choppa/Slugga has 4 attacks versus the 5 attacks of the Choppa/Slugga Nob.

With this sort of list, I think I would play two KFF Big Meks. Not playing any is BONKERS!
Even one can cover six trukks easily.

Ever thought of using Shoota boyz? The whole point of Ork Boyz is to win combats in one turn (in best-case scenario) and sending 24 shots into your enemy before chargin in with 37 is far better than just charging in with 49 and 12 pistol shots.
Wait a tick. Just did the math and it seems you actually get the same amount of attacks. Meh. I've been told that Shoota boyz are better in general. Especially if you want to hold objectives.

Conventional wisdom seems to be shoota boyz are better except as trukk boyz. Footslogging shoota boyz will get at least one round of shooting before the turn in which they charge, trukk boyz usually don't. Without that extra round of shooting, slugga boyz are better since orks will do better in HtH when charging than they with shooting.

Thanks for the suggestions. Darkvoidof40k, yes I have run shoota boys sometimes but bs2 and low numbers don't mix well. I'd definately have them in a foot list and probably some in a BW list too. Here I usually run my boyz in the shooting phase to make sure they get into combat and are not being shot at as pzbw7z pointed out Footslogging shoota boyz will get at least one round of shooting before the turn in which they charge, trukk boyz usually don't. Without that extra round of shooting, slugga boyz are better since orks will do better in HtH when charging than they with shooting.
pzbw7z I probably should have a kff or 2, its entirely possible I am bonkers. The real truth is I converted one earlier this year, liked it for a month or two and then got better at conversions so now he's stuffed away in the bottom of a box cos he just looks terrible. Also subjectively, I just couldn't pass a 4+ save.
This is my bonkers reasoning: If a 4+ cover save was a 10 or 15 points upgrade on a truck would you pay for that upgrade on all your trucks or save some points and just buy more trucks? An interesting parallel is in the new dark eldar codex, do you add flickerfields on all those raiders or do they just go on some or on ravagers?
Interested to hear your thoughts.
