Nobody is certain as to where the Sons of Auria have come from but there is speculation within the Imperium with many theories as to why it is, but nobody knows for definate. This includes: Primarch theories, Experimentation theories, Natural cause and Daemonic possession theories. But nobody knows which one (or if any) is right.
this is just rumour and is not fact. The Sons of Auria were always loyal to the Emperor. In M30 Athellion left his wife, family and people to join the Great Crusade with his father, the Emperor. He erected The Golden voice, a giant bell that could be heard throughout the galaxy. This was to be used if there was ever a threat to the planet. If the bell was used he would return with his legion and save them from the threat.

The Voice is heard.

In M31, at the time of the siege of Terra the Golden voice was signaled. As soon as the signal was heard Athellion returned at once with his legion, abandoning his father and the Legions at Terra to face their own faith. The planet was under attack from a large scale Ork attack. After 10 years of war Athellion won, only to learn that a space marine by the name of Sevron Vetch had declared his legion traitor for abandoning the Emperor and causing his death because of it.

The Destruction of Auria.

The King, Athellion left Auria to claim revenge on Sevron Vetch, the space marine that had ruined his legions name. While hunting for Sevron, the Golden voice was signaled. Athellion, King of Auria returned to find his planet left in ruin. The only thing left was a script left on the landing port of his fortress telling him that his entire empire and the people that lived there were tainted and had to be purified through death. It was signed by Sevron Vetch, just to humiliate him. There was also a Sky Raven icon left beside the note. Fuelled by anger, Athellion declared a crusade. The crusade was named, Vengeance of the Fallen. It still lasts and will not stop until the Imperium is shattered and Sevron’s head is displayed on Athellion’s trophy rack.

Descent of the Gods.

Due to the anger the legion faced, it was not long until they had swayed down the path of Chaos. While fighting the Emperors Children a daemon in the form of Athellion’s wife appeared to him, overcome by her presence Athellion and his legion fell. However they joined Khorne and not Slaanesh. Their motives are still being questioned as to why they did but there is no answer. There are still reports that Athellion is seen fighting beside a woman of pure beauty with a Golden aura around her. Even though the Sons of Auria have swayed down the path of darkness they are still strong, Athellion’s judgement is still perfect. He is still doing what he believes is the right thing for his legion.

Auria.

Looks just like Earth from space and has the same gasses, ocean, geography, topography, clouds, temperature and similar plant life. It may look like Earth but has one giant continent and many Archipelagos. Not much can be said about this planet because the only level on Auria was the Golden Bell levels. The only thing that could be observed it that humans used to live there and is unknown if there are any still around.

Just make it a random guy. If it has to be an SM chapter then make it Captain Radom guy fromm they Radnomers SM chapter. It's a good idea to stay away from named characters in your fluff.

Just make him a Chapter Master that very closely emulates his primarch whoever that is... please give them a primarch. Maybe The man in blue himself which would add even more tension to any rivalry with another ultramarine successor.

I dont really like giving them primarchs. I enjoy the mystery of an unknown primarch

The two legions who had their identities removed from Imperial records were gone well before the Horus Heresy.
That means that whatever happened to make 'The Sons of Auria' be called traitors happened before Horus became traitor so they wouldn't have been going to the Siege of Terra in the first place.

A question or two:
Why are there only 1000 of them if they were a legion originally and so didn't split up like the loyalist legions did? The other chaos legions still number several thousands each.
Who are the Sky Ravens? Are they the 'Raven Guard'?
Why does Athellion have a wife?

He isn't a Primarch of one of the Missing Legions, it's just the fact that when he was found on the planet of Auria, he was already 7 feet tall and extremely powerful. People within the Imperium have come up with many theories as to why it is but nobody knows for definate. This includes: Primarch theories, Experimentation theories, natural cause and daemonic possession theories. Bute nobody knows which one (or if any) is right.
How many should there be?
Sky Ravens are some random chapter that I added to replace Ultra Marines, I'll probably go into some more detail about them later. No they are not the Raven Guard.
He was King of an entire planet, he had a wife before he even knew about the space marines (or at least as far as he can remember)

You need a timeline of events to make sense of this fluff as it's hard to work out what's happening.

Who are the Sons of Auria and when did they first call themselves this?
If Athellion joined the Crusade as a marine then he must have joined one of the legions so which one? He obviously didn't command a legion as he wasn't a primarch and couldn't take the entire legion with him back to fight the orks so maybe he was a chapter master within a legion and took his chapter with him as they were recruited from Auria which would explain why they were later called the Sons of Auria.

So which legion did they break from? You mention the Siege of Terra and the end of the Heresy so it can't have been one of the two lost legions as they were gone before the heresy even started. If they left the defence of earth then they were most probably a chapter of one of the legions that fought there - Blood Angels, Imperial Fists, White Scars or maybe a chapter sent from one of the other loyal legions that turned around before they got there to defend their home planet.

Work out some dates though, it will help to sort out when things happened and what else was happening in other places at the time.
