Just a quick question, perhaps iam missing something. I thought a landspeeder was considereded an open top vehical, due to the crew being exposed but in the description it says nothing of this, but only its a fast skimmer. Iam assumining its not given the open top rule because the Marines are wearing power armour, unlike the landspeeder storm that has the open top rule. Did I just answer my own question or is there more too it?

Codex does not say it's open topped, so it is not open topped.

Yes, you answered your own Q and Thaanos also made the correct call.

It was once true that SM landspeeders were not considered to be 'open topped' specifically due to the fact that the crew were wearing powered armour.

Nowadays, it is simply the lack of an 'open topped' rule that makes them not open topped. The Landspeeder storm HAS that extra rule, and even if you could embark SM upon it, it would still be open topped.

@chromedog - I do actually believe there is an explanation for this in C:SM. It's in the outline for the land speeder before the showcase section of the codex IIRC but it doesn't say it explicitly.

If Warhammer has taught me anything, it is that anything and everything can be solved by violence.

Regardless.
Currently:
The Storm HAS the rule and therefore IS open topped.
The Land Speeder ( or Tornado/Typhoon) doesn't and therefore is NOT open topped.

That's how the rules work.
