I've just had another go at painting a Necron Flayed One; although I'm reasonably happy that I've managed the leather look to the skin that I was going for, I'm worried that it lacks definition and contrast to the metal portions. I was thinking of doing a thin, broken line around the edges of the skin, but I'm not sure what colour to use.
Any suggestions for greater contrast between the skin and metal?
Cheers

I personally wouldn't go with a leather look. Try using elf flesh with a blood red line around it but non actually on the flesh. You can highlight but no washing or else it becomes shiny and loses the matte/satin look.

with my home brewed flayed ones i actually used tallarn flesh mixed with the pure white from the citadel paint set for a fleshy tone leaving it more white then carefully washed the red throughout, but thats mine yours look very well done, i would probably add a little red to the skin though since it does look more like a metal skin thats wrapped around him. but otherwise it looks pretty bitchin.

Typically, i tend to dry-brush the lighter color on over the wash to make it look a little flatter, and like hair is growing.

I like it as well, the skin has a nice leathery look to it. The metal underneath also has a nice warn look. From this distance I do not see the issue you are talking about, maybe it is hard to tell from 3 feet or so? Aside from patting you on the back, I do not have any helpful information, sorry!

I think he is referring to the similar wash shading on the metal and flesh. See how it turns almost 'coppery' on the flesh and metal? It kind of blends the two.
