I have a dilemna at hand. My dear friend who collects a guard army fields an equal mix of armor and guards, I'm not quite sure how to divide my marines to stop the problem. My questions are
1) Should I get a Land raider or Land Raider Crusader?
2) How should I load out my Dreadnaught?
3) How should I equip my Librarian?

What point levels you are playing and else is in your force would really help us.
In general though:
1. Get the land raider set, then buy the Crusader sprue from GW's bitz section. With magnets, you can have one model that gives you the option of any configuration. Seriously, with an expensive model like that, magnets will save you alot of maney in the long run.
2. Again, magnets rule. Against armor, I do like the TL Lascannona and missle dread. Or the rifleman dread which the two TL-Autocannon arms. Don't let either of these dreads get into cc, but they will ruin transports like no tomorrow.
3. I go with termy armor, nullzone, and something else. Nullzone is the only power I use in most games.

1) Crusader, but it's not needed against IG. IG has melta coming out the whazoo and can easily blow up a land raider.
2) MM/ HF in a drop pod, or rifleman on foot.
3) Doesn't matter against IG. Take Nullzone +Whatever you already have nullzone unless you're BA or space wolves.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Assuming a fairly large points game (1500-2000) range, its probably best to max out as many kill points as possible with anti-tank load outs and several options for anti-infantry. As stated, the Land Raider will be a huge point sink against an army that can field things half the point cost with a decent chance of killing the tank before it becomes effective. Spread out the points to give your Combat Squads heavy weapons (Missile launchers, meltas, ect.) Fast attack slots should feature land speeders to harass armor and infantry, equipped with flamer and a melta. Razorbacks with heavy weapons may run up higher costs per unit, but give you more weapons to fire with against the IG. Dreadnoughts in Drop pods are fun! Land one in a spot with difficult LOS issues (cover and such) and use it to harass his lines.

To further help you guys, I mostly play 1500-2000pt games. I field roughly 3-4 tac squads a game depending on points with one squad of 5 terminators. My HQ choices has been going back and forth between a terminator librarian, Marneus Calgar, and a regular captain

Take the Librarian. Marneus Calgar is a huge point sink. A decent CCer, but for the price, you could add in so much more to the army. What does your Heavy slots look like (and maybe a complete list would be good)?
