What kind of trophies are SM allowed to take? I know they can take skulls, what about:
- knives/swords?
- Tyranid spikes/claws/armour plates?
- helmets/armour pieces?
- Eldar weapons (I know that Ultramarine Captain Orar was buried with the Sceptre of Galaxian)

I'm assuming they would never take trophies from the Chaos for fear of corruption, and probably not from the Tau.

Any as far as I am concerned...my old Dark Angels once took a captive Ork Boss as a trophy, the story is the Dark Angels put him through collage and dressed him up in a nice expencive black suit. This figure was ment to mock any Orc force we met after that as he was a non-combatant member of my Dark Angels for 5 yrs. Hehe

Well I do know that just before the HH, Lucius (Before he became 'The Eternal') was reprimanded for using an alien claw/sword thing as a secondary sword, but that's about as far as my hard evidence goes. I suppose they wouldn't mind the taking of a banner of a famous ork warlord to hang in their Hall of Trophies or whatnot, as a reminder of the hardships and enemies faced.... /shrug

Allowable trophys:

- a lot of different stuff to attach to company/chapter banner
- nothing for personal use

Marines from savage worlds may keep trophys ( SW ,...), some dedicated anti xenos troops ( UM nid hunters 4th ed codex ) may do this too.
But generally they display the trophys at their base / ship and the store away dangerous items deep down in highly secured vaults what was taken from the enemy.

Those offending the WS may find their heads as trophys on a stake in the kum karta ( sp? ) mountains...

It depends on chapter and homeworld, but as stated by 1hadhq, most of the trophies do go to the company in most chapters, and will be displayed by the chapter.

Space Wolves and Crimson Fists (I was surprised at Crimson Fists, but it's in the Legends of the Space Marines book..or Heroes, can't remember which.) will take fetish trophies on occasion, heads and the like, as may other more savage chapters.

However, there are instances of a marine taking a knife, or something small, to commemorate a particularly well-fought personal battle, especially if the enemy nearly claimed the marines life.
