So, after playing on my Xbox for a while, I decided to buy TF2 and play it for a long time. Now that I got Halo Reach, I must admit to one fact that I was desperatly fighting against before:
Mouse and Keyboard is a vastly superior control scheme.
Now, it just might be because I bought a mouse that is completely customizable, and it fits in my hand better than most gloves, but the Mouse N Keyboard just feels so much more.... natural, than the controller.
There, I said it.

You and a lot of other people. There am apochraphal story from the development of a later Halo game. They were testing out how PC vs XBox death match would pan out. They took top flight xbox death match competitors vs mediocre PC players and the keyboard mouse controls were so much more responsive and natural that the console team never had a chance.

Physically, this makes sense.
Your arm has a much greater range of motion than your thumbs ever could.
Plus, playing on a PC is like playing on a high-sensitivity analog controller really, as even on medium sensitivity you can flip 180 degrees around with but an errant flick of the mouse.

To each his own. Although I used to be a PC gamer, I've become much more accustomed to the 360 controller, and it's no more difficult than playing with a mouse and keyboard.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

A mouse and keyboard really only ends up feeling more 'natural' in a first-person shooter. The mouse gives you full, incredibly precise control over your ability to aim which dominates any analogue stick. A mouse and keyboard also helps a lot in games that require a lot of functionality to be fully playable.
However, when it comes to games where you need very precise input, a quick reaction time, or the ability to execute timed combinations, a controller is vastly superior to a keyboard and mouse setup.
So, really, it depends on the genre and control scheme of the game you're playing at the moment.

You'll also be able to enjoy RTS games more efficiently when you're familiar with keyboard hotkeys.

Try telling that to the guys that thought Shadowrun DM between PC and console players would be a great idea.
