Hey Dakka! Long time Plog reader, first time Plog writer.

I have been working on a Mechanized Ork Army for some time now (6 - 12 months I think) and have failed to keep my motivation up, except to meet a deadline for a local tournament but that's a different post. Until now I had no way of posting my progress on Dakka, but alas Christmas has brought me a Camera.

The design of my lists are armoured spearheads with foot sloggers to clean up the mess, the theme of my army is Battle for da 'Ardennes. With my Waagh represented by hints of Wermacht and a recurring theme of running out of fuel, including details such as da boys carrying fuel canisters, Meganobs wearing empty 44 gallon drums, and an Empty Oil Tanker turned Armoured Battle Wagon (see Dreadnought - DeathRace for a good reference).

First up, my 2 main HQ's:

Waagh Profile: Spear 'Ead WIP
Rank: Waagh Marshal - Big Boss
Transport: Personal Speed Trakk
Supporting Information: Leader of the Mekanized Ladz, Maintains a high level of discipline un-heard of in Ork Kulture. Always leads from the front, in Personal Speed Trakk (bike). Also possesses a level of logistical skill that allows for his nearly un-fuelled army to keep rolling.

(NOTE: DREADNAWT HAS BEEN DISASSEMBLED, SOON TO BE REBUILT AND REPAINTED)

Those are the two major leaders, I have many yet to post about, but to keep you interested i'll post a couple more pics of my waagh. Next post i'll start painting my Gaznawt, and show some more profiles. C'n'C welcome.

Alright, bad weather, bad day of work. Didn't get around to priming gaznawt.

However, I do have another HQ profile.

Waagh Profile: Kan Mek WIP
Rank: Current Mek Boss, watches over other Big Meks.
Transport: Kan Wagon 'The Big Rigg'
Supporting Information: Kan Mek, also referred to as Big Mek Kanner, is the current Mek Boss of Spear 'Eads Spearhead and the only other Ork who can give orders to Gaznawt. He Specializes in recycling and looting, especially in the way of empty gas containers. His role is to keep other Meks on their toes and make them perform to their absolute best. His Armour (Eavy Armour + Cybork) is a lighter version of the 44 Gallon Armour he usually builds, this is to allow space for the fitting of his kustom force field. He also features a fastened Power Klaw and a retractable boss poll.

Here are some of his projects.

The Deadly Kan Nobs (Mega Armoured Nobs) - Have ordered 12 more appropriately sized Drums for more MA-Nobs and for scenic details.

... and my WIP empty oil tanker - a Cut in 1/2 Battle Wagon with an added trailer.

My plan is to add another set of wheels (hence Big Rigg) and ad 44 gallon drums under cab between the wheels, and then armour plate and weaponise the Tanker. None of which I can do until I get around to ordering some plastic card.

Alright thats me for now. Thanks for all the positive comments

@oldone - Cheers, hope you like the Meks below as well.
@Y Logan - Will do.
@Boyz - Haha thanks, I hope it does too, I really hope I don't shelve it for too long.
PS. More posts make me post more.

Tale of 3 Meks...

Waagh Profile: Big Mek Dread Klaw WIP
Rank: Masta of Arse'n'al
Transport: N/A
Supporting Information: Dread Klaw is in charge of distrubuting ammo, making sure big guns get big ammo ect. He is also known to help out in the field, loading the heavy ordinance machines that his dread klaw allows him to, and to engage enemies with his destructive Kombi Skorcha. His Dread-Klaw is a trophy of mystery, he will tell you he wrestle the arm off of a rampaging deffdread, but it's more likely he just build it himself.

Waagh Profile: Big Mek Kron (aka MEKRON) WIP
Rank: Minista of Alta'nate Gaz Soursez
Transport: N/A
Supporting Information: Kron, fulfilling his title, believes he has found the solution to the gaz shortage, using Necron Fuel cells. Using not a drop of fuel, he has shown that he can support a Kustom Mega Blasta and a Burna, hardwired into a Necron Destroyer Frame, which is hardwired into himself... However, Kron is looked upon with suspicion, for no one is truly sure if he controls the Necron, or if the Necron controls him.

Waagh Profile: Big Mek Ded Eye WIP
Rank: Masta of Mork'n'anse
Transport: N/A
Supporting Information: Ded Eye achieved his Rank by mastering the unusual task of fine-tuning a weapon, making them more stable, more accurate. It is for this reason he carrys a HUD for aiming, a large spanner in case of Ordinance breakdowns, and a burna with a scope. He is responsible for the Shokk Attack Array (manned by all three of these Big Meks) and makes sure the shots hit home (but not literary).

Also in way of Projekts:
- Have secured this chaos rhino, which will be promptly looted and given a turret when I can track one down, it will be my third looted tank in the formation.
- Bought about 6 - 8 of these old edition Siege Rams (I Think, IG Maybe), no matter, they are spiky and will represent reinforced Rams, which will be included on all tanks except my BattleWagon.
- I couldn't decide what to do with this Mega Armoured Nob, doesn't fit my Kan Nobs and GazNawt is way bigger so it can't represent a Warboss, so he's gunna be my 5th Big Mek. Watch out for this guy i'm gunna go all out with him. I Plan on him carrying one of those cool twin-linked dakkguns and making him use it with both hands, hopefully achieving the look of a Devestator with HB whilst maintaining the Mek Attitude.

Peace out.

Gaznawt update, just a quick basecoat, going with ultramarines and blood angels for the dreadnought schemes so far. Still WIP so be nice.

I dunno what to put for his DCCW though, salamanders green? What do you guys think.

Another Update, another couple layers, another couple to go. I present Paintnawt.

Tomorrow I'll finish his banner, and his base, as well as a couple of unnecessary touch ups just because he's Gaznawt.

Also, my current Ar'med kolumn. Heres a quick snap, I havn't included my new chaos looted tank thats still on the workbench, but there is half of a halftrack behind the BattleWagon if you can see it.

And yes they are paintcan lids, well played sir, i'm always on the look out for something better, so far to no avail.

@iior - Then you'll be pleased to know I just purchased 12 new 28mm 44-gallon drums, I don't know what ratio i'm going to make Kan Nob/Scenery Drums yet, but it's starting to lean towards Kan Nobs.

Peace.

As promised, finish Gaznawt Dread-kill:

I'm not particularly happy with the bosspole/flag, made some amateur mistakes with the blacktemplars face plate and the writing, but nothing I can't fix. Have also dug out my Nob Bikers, my only way to justify paying that amount for the biker kit. I'm gunna run this 3 man squad with my warboss on bike, and another 3 man with wazdakka to head up the spear 'ead. This army is turning apocolypse real fast.

Peace.

Today I surprised myself, I actually started work on my Battle Wagon. I have added the swing door to allow dedicated troops out, added a top hatch with gun loader, another set of wheels and gaz tanks under the tanks, as well as a sweet Visor for the BW.

Ned Kelly! haha added him because of a comment in this thread

Tomorrows Job:
Fix the loaders missile
green stuff / glue some spikes on the deffroller
add armour plates + 2 big shootas

Thats me, Peace.

Not much done today, but I need to keep my posts daily.

Just done some work on the battlewagon, added some plates, rivets. Also started building a canvas for my supply trukk, just needs a cab now.

I was hoping to build a couple trukks full of tank bustas, but they can't take dedicated so i'm a little lost on what to put in it. I question boys in trukks, as there are other more dedicated units to jump into the fray fast, and i want to put nobs in my german half trakks, as there just cooler. any sugestions + thoughts welcome.

Been a quiet day, just messing around with my supply trukk. It's loosely based on the Dawn of War Ork Trukk, with canvas, covered cabin and reinforced ram. I made the canvas by building a frame inside the trukk bay with sprue, then pva'ing the paper on top of it. I saw a really nice way of camouflaging oil drums for terrain somewhere using paper and pva, which I can hopefully recreate.

Also included, a pic of dis-embarking boys. These are some of my shoota boys in my 25 man mob (I don't no where the other 5 went ) and a pic of my concept wierdboy used as a nob. I wanna make a profile for the Minista of da Orkkult, a wierdboy wearing leather, sporting an all metal face (refer to the assassin in Hellboy 1) and some form of psychic stick.

Peace.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
If you've been following, up above me 10 or so posts, I have half a Mega nob I was going to turn into a Big Mek w/ Mega Armour. Well building his concept was my goal of the day, and that progressed a bit further then I had anticipated.

Also for size comparison, a Picture of BMek w/MA, my MetalFace Nob and a standard shoota boy:

I still have some pistons, bolts and plates to ad onto him, other then that he is nearly ready for Spraying.

(NOTE: MEGA MEK HAS BEEN DISASSEMBLED, HIS ACTIVE SERVICE REVOKED)

All C&C welcome, Peace.

Alright thought it was about time to pick up this thread again, i'm not gunna make any lame excuses just had a shift in priorities is all.

Whats happened since last post? A lot, some of my models have been de-constructed and redesigned, others have been upgraded and safegaurded. It's a pity but I'm stuck at my parents with no models to show you guys.

I've made a big change to my KFF Mek, but unfortunately it won't be hitting the tables anytime soon, just figured out it only gives 5+ cover save to vehicles :( will post ASAP.

Have combined my vindicator and spare rhino to form a temporary battle wagon (which will become my freebooter flagship eventually), cut my BattleWagon/Oil tanker down to a more appropriate size, and added a couple units of Nobs to my force.

As I said before I will post when able, earliest tommorow night.

Alright as promise, small update though as my internets to slow to upload as many photos as hoped.

My Half Trakk, thing of beauty aint it? I'm going to use this for my stormtroopers (Nobs) as an Trukk with Reinforced Ram, Armour Plates and Smoke Launchers.

My Finished (mostly) Battlewagon, shortened to an appropriate size and upgraded to carry a lobba.

This is gunna be interesting, my WIP Open-Topped Battlewagon, can carry a multitude of things with a multitude of layouts.

That's it until next time, remember posting more makes me post more.

Quick lunchbreak update.

I'm currently deciding on a plan of attack, a means of progressing through the conversion, building and painting stages.

I want to make a D6 system for including my 2 HQs, as I always have a preference for the same 2 but variety is always better. Heres my D6:

1 - Gaznawt (Gazghkull)
2 - Spear'Ead (Warboss on Bike)
3 - Warp'Ead (wierdboy)
4 - Mek Inah'Kan (KFF)
5 - Shokk Attack Mek (SAG)
6 - Dokta Deff (Mad Doc Grotsnik)

So the next couple of weeks i'm going to be posting on the above conversions + Builds, stay tuned!

Recieved my last item from maelstrom before they stop exporting GW products to NZ, a box of nobs, which is right on time.

Out of that I've been kitbashing and bitmashing, and added to HQs to my army, heres the wip.

Old Zogwort(or wierdboy, whatever I have points for)

Complete with Squig :>

Grosnik (WIP)

I took a lot of influence from the codex picture, didnt really like the model. complete with needles, cables and random stitches, with a touch of theme for my army (hat)

Also need to work out how to make heads for the snake wires on zogwort, perhaps the jaws of goblins?

CnC Welcome

Just done some quick work.

Added an LED into zogwort, for that extra awesome.
Completed the snake heads using goblin mouths, work as expected.
took the hat off grotsnik.

Also just finished a quick shokk attack gun mek, never used him in a game so I dnt no the best wargear for him.

Also I have stripped my Gazghkull model from the first page, I just wasnt happy with the dreadnought look, I need a commander not a dreadnought,

bit hard to say because theres a lot of metal in there, my project for the week is to paint them all, and repaint a couple of them, as well as base because the current ones are so boring.

keep cool forum.

Just to recap, I wanted to produce a D6 system for selecting my HQs per game, the first game I rolled for Warboss on bike w/ Grotsnik.

I will create a battlereport, next club night is 2 weeks unfortunatly but I will post links to this Plog.

I'm thinking I keep boss on bike at the rear, use him and his personal escorts as a missile, hit a target and have no survivors.

Where as Grotsnik will lead from the front, with a personal bodyguard of 30 Sluggas , for wound soakage ofcourse, so my 2 battlewagons filled with nobs or mega nobs pick at the targets they want, I think grotsnik with 30 FNP boys will be the opponants main priority.

until next time, plan on starting to paint grotsnik in the next couple of days, stay tuned.

Lol loot away my friend, orks do that best! Also, for your Grotsnik, try to include missiles from the space marines sprue, it has 3 little rockets that can either be trimmed to place needles on his weapons, or take the end off and just glue it to grotsnik, the codex pic shows him with several needles in him.

That's 1 vote for Zogwort, anyone else?

Haven't done much today, realised I left my old basing sand at my old house, and decided to try something different for Grotsnik.

It was an attempt at making a dry dirt plates with fertile soil in-between the cracks. It was an experiment that went like this:

Basically:
Thin Cork layer glued on, cracked with craft knife.
Brushed White, then washed brown when dry.
Added basing grit into the cracks, pva'd on some foliage.

I think I drowned out the basing grit with foliage, oh well.

Perhaps I could have painted the cork grey, dry brushed with lighter grey a couple of times. It may have looked more like an old battlefield or ruins, not sure. I get the impression looking at my basing like the cork layer looks like broken up clay bricks. Anyone else get that?

What are your thoughts on this basing dakka?

With this pic you can see the hole I drilled from the mouth, if I had the camera an inch higher you would have seen the LED shooting through the eyes. Like grotsnik i've still got a fair bit of cleaning up to do with him, snake stripes, basing etc.

There are another couple of pics in my gallery, but not as good a photo as this. Might take some photos tommorow I don't get best results at night.

That's 2 votes SAG, cheers.
As for other angles i've got a few in my gallery under 'mek ladz', I have to reiterate though that I did not manage to take very good photos of zogwort.
As for the heads It was simple, I just cut off from the bottom of the nose-up on a fantasy goblin. Then just trimmed it, drilled it to allow wire to plug into it.

Amazing how well it fits with the 40k scale. I'm gonna get myself a couple fer da lootin'

Glad you found it, especially on amazon I might get another one, your right it fits well *bookmarked*.

In other news, after searching the interwebs (notably wikipedia) I found a couple of inspiring ideas,

First, I was having problems with my looted tanks, they're rhinos for the most part, and everyone packs a list with anti-rhino wargear (and for good reason) which puts my tanks at a major disadvantage. So I went back to the drawing boards on my tanks, decided to keep them at the back, much akin to self propelled guns.

Secondly, after cutting a rhino and vindicator in half, glueing the 2 big halfs together and forming a battlewagon, I wasn't sure what to call it until I saw this.

It's a small pic I realise, but it was the one that lit the light bulb above my head. Especially in the length of tracks similar to my BWagon, it was nicknamed the Land Battleship (reference book: my tank is fight) and it's what i'm going to strive to achieve, although a way smaller version. Heres my mock up so far:

It's a bit messy, and I'm afraid I might have to replace the entire roof of the rhino(s) due to super glue damage. A lot more work is needed but I don't have to work on it until I get my HQ's done.

As for my Self Propelled Guns this caught my eye:

So in my madness (Again) I ripped apart my tanks and started the conversion. This is how far I got:

Still in the early stages, but you get the picture, will play as open topped to save points but I will have to re-evaluate that if it's not effective. Also need some more armour to tie the gun shield in with the turret. Heres a pic of the cabin:

Simple concept, Ork boy in charge, grots grovelling around the tank. If you can look closely you'll see a grot head glued to the top of a vindicator shell. Talk about grots having a higher ballistic skill! Ha! Right, I've outdone myself, Night forum.

Also, any more votes on the next HQ? Peace.

Yes, yes I did. Imagine if you can, a weaker leman russ, with little option for non-scattering anti tank weapons, and the ones I can field I can't use because i'm BS2 and have no lumbering behemoth rule. And no Knight commander pask.

Then you might consider re-adapting your tanks for the field.
