Quick question about the Plague Monks when pushing a Furnace. If the first row of the unit is composed of 5 monks, furnace, 5 monks; does the unit counts as having a total frontage of 10 models for horde purposes?

It is actually 13 wide, and yes it's a horde.

Right- as I understand it, you could benefit from horde formation by going with four monks, furnace, three monks. The furnace is 60mm wide, so counts as 3- which would get you to your 10 wide...

Being in a horde formation grants the unit the "fights in extra rank" USR.

so instead of getting all the front rank of Plauge monks, you'd get an extra attack for the 2nd and 3rd Rank?

Unless my math is wrong for a unit that is 10 wide you get:

1st rank: 3 Attacks each (1 base + 2 hand weapons + Frenzy)
2nd & 3rd rank: 1 Attack Each
6 Attacks from the Furnace crew
(Does the Priest count as part of the crew or does he get extra attacks?)

Giving you a total of 56 Attacks (or 57 if you have a Bringer-of-the-Word) from the Plague Monks

As well as D6 impact hits from the Plague Furnace if it charges.

And an Artillery Die worth of S5 hits in each combat phase of the controller.

Erm no. Normally you get all the attacks from the 1st rank dudes and one supporting attack for each of the second rank guys, however with each instance of the "fights in extra rank" USR you get to have supporting attack for one more rank, in this case the 3rd. The thing about this USR as opposed to others is that it stacks so units with spears can still benefit from horde and HE spearmen can even fight with up to 5 ranks.
