So I saw someone's Space Wolf army on here and it made me want to do Marines.

After some thought - You know, the usual joke army thoughts, maybe something serious, maybe not Marines afterall, maybe go Vanilla and do Ultramarines but they're boring, maybe Emperor's Pointy Sticks, look up TSOALR, find out he's shut down last year and get all sad about it even though I haven't read the comic in two years - I landed on Nurgle. But with Imperial Marines who have only 'recently' (Air quote because it would probably actually have been quite a while now) been converted and are still in the process of bleeding out and melding with their armour.

Que: Tester Marine

The brown gun was a late addition. Still a little unsure about it. Thoughts? I wanted to make it fit, but didn't want it to blend in too much with the armour colours. Note the red staining around the eagle on his gun. I was trying to achieve an effect of the eagle being a sore, possibly like an unwanted branding.

Notice the heavy bleeding out of cracks in his uncared-for armour. I was a little afraid of going OTT with it, but at the same time, I think OTT suits Chaos.

Drilled Nurgle Mark. It's imperfect because of their lack of dedication to Nurgle yet (that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it). Some others have even been drilled upside-down.

Bleeding from every orifice. Even ones not directly linked to his body. Adds for the creepy factor. Note the blood-crying skull (it is, honest).

And he himself also crying blood. Not being fully dedicated yet, he still has regrets and sees all the wrongs in what he's done in order to save his own hide (lol pun).

I'm not a great painter to begin with, and I see all the imperfections. This is really to show off/get advice on the general scheme and idea.

Here are some Marines I've put together. I've GSd some of them, but not all. All will come with these Resin Infested bases from Dark Art Miniatures when finished, and all will have drilled Nurgle Marks in their left pads.

Champion. The wrist is at a funny angle, but I'm happy enough with it.

Self explanatory what the idea is with this one.

Here's one where the infected ground is growing up his leg.

This is just a dude about to reload, but it's an un-flashed shot so that you can see the base.

Comments and criticism welcomed (encouraged).
Compliments loved but not necessary.

P.S sorry if this is technically the wrong place.

Looking quite good but your photos are a bit unflattering - try taking some pics from a bit further away and try to avoid using flash (use sunlight instead) as the flash is putting a lot of shadows in the wrong place and bleaching out other areas making it hard to see and properly gauge the effect of the paintjob. Then you'll get more comments! The greenstuff work is looking very cool at least though.

Thanks for the advice, it makes sense. But I was actually looking for more factual rather than flattering photos in the first place.

I really like the painted one. He looks like a mouthful of rotting teeth, Try and take that as a compliment lol 8-). The yellow and khaki work really well together. The mark of nurgle on the shoulder pad also looks nice. I would suggest seeing what your GS work looks like with a lick of paint, some of my dodgiest (thats not to say yours arent pretty good) GS work ended up looking okay once painted.

Thanks a lot. (:

Yeah that makes sense. Luckily I haven't done many of these with GS, so it won't be a pain to scrape it back off if it doesn't work when painted. If it does work, then I might get more adventurous with it.

A nice solid start, the guy with the knife's hand looks wrong, due to the angle and his rotted head for some reason reminds me of a monks bowl haircut

Nice work with the green stuff. I really like the concept as well.

Oh thanks. (:

I've painted a couple up. Looking good as a group, if I do say so myself. They're going to have FW Nurgle Preachers as Mark bearers (Ordered and delivered. Just waiting for some more Infested bases before I start painting them up). Just for the feel really. I'll be sure to update with a squad picture once I get round to finishing them.

My new favorite nurgle paint scheme. They look so sickly when pale +blood!

Definately thin your paints. Check out the Vallejo Smoke, it's a nice color to simulate grit and grim or in your case leaking fluids and blood. Mix with your Baal Red and use a fine brush to draw thin lines so that it looks like it's actually oozing our and dripping down the sides.

I like what you did with the blood, and your skill with applying green stuff is pretty damned good. If I had to give you a tip, it would be to remove the molding lines from all of the pieces before you glue them together, it can be agonizingly time consuming at times, but, in the finished product, it really can make or break a model. Very good paint scheme, but thinning out your paints just a little would make it look even better. Nice job

I think you can not really tell they are CSM.

Join the Imperial Guard. The pay's lousy, the battles fierce and you probably won't ever come back again. BUT you get a lasgun.
