Hey guys, this is my first go at a Daemons army after looking over the codex. I like the idea of big creatures and i'm not really looking for a horde type of army. Let me know what you guys think.

Letters are OK, but die pretty easily. I'd recommend scrapping 1 soul grinder and the letters for 4-5 units of 5 horrors. They pop the tanks, your thirster/grinders eat the contents

are the soul grinders really worth their points? They seem pretty awesome. I was hoping to go all MCs but I really dont think the DPs are worth their points over the Soul Grinders.

Ill have to look into the Pink Horrors. I was hoping to keep some what of a theme with the army. Its pretty Khorne themed at the moment.

Grinders are, simply put, great. AV 13 dreads that can't be shaken or stunned is always good. Plus they put out an OK amount of firepower. My sole issue with them is the price tag. $62 for 160 points of my list seems pretty... steep. Daemon princes are great, but they're best used in lists with Fateweaver and things. Grinders are good as firepower if your going to keep it all Khorne.

So, if you do keep it all Khorne, I'd honestly cut 1 grinder for 1 more squad of letters. Cut tongue as BS3 means you miss quite often. I like the template (phlegm I believe, don't have my dex), as BS3 doesn't affect you as much. Plus battlecannons are always handy

Yeah thats probably what I would do. At 125, how well do you think this list would hold against most things? I never Tailor my lists, so I would be running this for an all comers.

Ill toss around the idea of dropping the other Grinder. 3 Just seems too intimidating to resist =)

Well, mech you'll have issues against. Khorne has problems with tanks in that if you roll baddly, you'll get steamrolled. Also, dreadnoughts can ruin your day as bloodletters cannot hurt them. Any infantry heavy list you'll do other against. Honestly, your list hinges on your grinders being able to take out or stop tanks so your other guys can nom nom nom

Yeah, it seems a little to much of a gamble for me. Ill have to think about it a bit more before i invest in the list.

The best way I found to start daemons is use your marines or whatever and proxy a small list and try em out. Everyones different, so its finding what works for you. If your going to go fluffy, stick with 1 or 2 gods. If you want competative, you'll normally want to do tzeentch/slaneesh for the most part. Others (like myself) do all 4 gods in some fashion. Pretty much all daemon units in the dex have some place. However, I will advise you, seekers, furies, beasts of nurgle suck, as do nurgle heralds. Pretty much everything else can be good in any list.

Honestly, I'd suggest a Herald of Khorne, 4 bloodcrushers with full upgrades, 3 squads of letters, 2 soul grinders for a mono-khorne army at this points level. I'd then fill in from there; probably a second herald or third grinder. Also, look around online, you can get some great conversion ideas to save you some precious $$$!

The way I look at tongue is...

A Tzeetch Prince hits on a 2+ and Pens a Rhino on a 4+

A SG hits on a 4+ and pens a Rhino on a 2+

Ergo, if you think the DP is a good way to throw shots at vehicles, so is tongue.
