So, another Christmas comes and goes, and another batch of presents from relatives.

Well, I have recently received my present from Grandma; a Chaos Predator. Normally, I am more inclined to having a bigger bang for my Armoury Buck with a Vindicator, but honestly, I was just as surprised as she was that it was the right army, so I'm not going to trade it in for a Vindicator.

Now, with a very dismal experiance with Predators, I have to ask; what seems to be the best way to equip them? Should I use 2 Lascannons with the Autocannon? TL Lascannon with Heavy Bolter Sponsons?

I am trying to get more WYSIWYG and also more balanced army lists, so I was just wondering if I could get some advice on the matter. Thanks in advance.

The most I'd mix armament is autocannon and lascannon sponsons. The Predator is better when it is dedicated to a role.

Either an Annihilator with Lascannon sponsons, or a Destructor with either sponsons. Just remember that it won't quire have the same anti armour kick without the lascannon turret.

I am also fond of not giving them sponsons, so they can move every turn and you don't waste points on sponsons that never get to fire.

A predator is versatile, look at your list, are you suffering from a lack of anti tank? Not killing enough infantry? Equip the predator accordingly.

Ok, so dedicate it, don't mix it.

Probably going to go Anti Tank, since CSM infantry really dont have a problem against Guard, Tyranids, and most Eldar troops.

I personally would never put on the TL Lascannon, its better autocannon/ las sponsons imo.

Chaos tends to do ok vs infantry and that will give 2x las and 2x autocannons for a bit cheaper price, ntm when you get a WD on it you wont be extremely upset

If I can tell you one thing: Magnetize the sponsons.

The last two edition changes, and the last couple of codex changes, have EACH changed what configurations are best for a Predator. Odds are that when 6th comes out in a couple of years, it'll change again, and you'll want to change it.

The only predator I have is TL-las, las sponsons; I glued it together back in 3rd ed, when that was the best configuration.

Oh, and AC, las sponsons is the best option for a chaos pred. Right now.

Have to agree with the autocannon and las sponsons.

The twin-link las turret isn't worth the points.

I got a full las pred. Works great for me. Never tried out the auto cannon or heavy bolter sponsons. My turret actually hits more then the sponsons due to being TL. But it still gets the job done. It is a bit more pricey, but again I find it worth it.
