Often manned by the more lucky of Gretchin, "Tanka" Squadrons have become more and more common among front-line battles. Mimicing that of Small Leman Russ Battle Tanks, Space Marine Predators, and even times Basalisks, these Gretchin piloted vehicles tote massive weaponry capable of punching holes through even thick armor, though the vehicles appear dwarved compared to the vehicle they attempt to impersonate. The vehicles themselves move at astonishingly fast rates, however, this is not without risk. The engines mounted by Grots are generall unstable, sometimes causing catastrophic ends to the vehicle, or, more commonly, accelerate the unit to intense speeds. The tanks also have been noted to have more "Experimental" varieties to say the least. These varieties are fitted with large bombs capable of blowing their foes to pieces. Taking these down at extreme ranges, is the only hope at stopping these crazed Gretchin...

Heavy Support: Grot Tanka Squadron-20 points per 'Ank
Front-12
Side-10
Rear-10
BS-3

Unit strength: 1-5 Grot 'Anks

Unit Type: Tank, Open-topped, Fast

Wargear
Grot Mega-Shoota

S-5
AP-5
Range-36"
Heavy 2

Special Rules: Dangerous Engines, Squadron(If the Grot Tanka Squadron numbers more than one 'Ank)

Dangerous engines
Almost all the engines of the grot tanks have been cobbled together from bits and pieces they have found. Due to this the engines are usually dangerously, unstable, and thus can overheat at any point. Each time a Grot 'Ank squadron moves more than 12" roll a D6 and consult the table below

Overload table:

1: Kaput-The tank squadrons engines have failed, sputtering to a stand-still. The Squadron cannot move during this movement phase.

2-5: Working gud Boss!-The engines do not overload and instead billow a black smog, coughing along. The Squadron may move as normal.

6-Wotch out Boss!-The engine have gone critical causing the squadron to randomly explode or whirl off at blinding speeds. Roll a 2d6 and a Scatter die, if the scatter points behind the Squadron, they immediately suffer a S6 hit on their rear armor. If a hit is rolled, the player may chose where to move the Squadron.

Bedda 'ngines Boss!: The squad no longer suffers from the "Kaput" result on the movement table. Instead, it treats this result as a "Working gud Boss!", as the Commander had the engines "Supa Tuned" before he conflict.

Options:

1 Grot 'Ank may be upgraded to a Grot Command 'Ank for an additional 20 points.

The Grot Command 'Ank has +1 to it's Side and Rear Armor Values in addition to adding the "Bedda Engines Boss!" rule

Any tank, including the command tank may take ONE of the follwing weapon options for the costs list:

Grot zappa-10 ponts

S-6 AP-4 Range-24" Gets VERY hot*
*If the shot misses on a 1 or a 2 the weapon has overloaded and the tank must take a hit equal to the weapons strength on it's side armour.

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

I like it, it has a lot of character. Reminds me of the old 1st edition Harlequin days where they could have any vehicle but it broke down on the roll of a 1. Are these Fast Tanks? If so I think their movement is limited to a max of 12".

But I think the special rules could use a little tweaking. I'd limit the Overload table to just three entries:

1: Kaput
2-5: Working gud Boss
6-Wotch out Boss!

For the 6 result I'd do something more like you get an additional D6 inches of movement but take a potential hit to the rear armor. The rules need to be a good balance between usefulness and good ole orky fun

As for the sucide grot tanks, I'd make them a seperate entry and keep the rules simple.

Hmm... Nice ideas, i'll run them by purplefood and see if he minds. And yes, they are fast tanks!

I hate to be a nit picker, but you have failed to say how many shots you actually get with these weapons?

I assume 1, but *shrugs* never know, grotz love rapid fire cannons.

I would think a Melta weapon would have an Ap value better than 5

Grot Snipa cannon-20 points

S-4 AP-4 Range-48" Twin-Linked, Ignores Cover

Rending would make this a good weapon.

Burney cannon-15 points

S-5 AP-5 Range-Template Assault 1, Ignores cover

Looks good

It's meant to be just 1.

Thank your for that, I didn't pick up on that when I went through. EDITING!

Oh, and I don't mind nitpicking, it helps often times.

I dont really get the burney cannon. Why not just use a scorcha? 50 points also for a S4 rending gun on wheels also seems a bit much. It may ignore cover but doesnt mean much when theres +10 guys you need to kill

It does seem redundant... I guess a scorcha could be used, I origionally planned on it being like a hellhound I.E. Measure 12" then template.
