This week I'm going to be making my Venom conversion, because I'm too impatient to wait a few months for a model to get released.

That got me thinking, does Dakka have any members who have converted themselves any venoms yet, or is everyone just using counts-as so far?

I have one I built from a Vyper back when the CJ Harlequin army list came out (Vyper with a 6 man fighting platform on the back).

It's been donated to my club's DE player.

I've seen another one of a vyper with a raider back end on it, but I was not impressed. I'll try to get a pic up of mine when its done, starting construction tomorrow night.

My one did not use a raider's back end.
If anything, it owes more to conversions for Vypers from 2nd edition (option: Fighting platform for character) which got turned into the 'jetbike' rides for my Farseers and autarch before I actually built my biker autarch (Farseer rides a chariot - I don't see him easily able to throw a leg over a bike, him being a crystallizing old fart and all).

Oh I guess the way I worded that was a bit confusing. I just meant that I had seen another conversion, and that other conversion had used the back of a raider.

I may steal part of your idea on the conversion. One thing I'm doing is taking the extra "planks" from the ravager kit that you would normally use on a raider, and putting 3 of them together on top of a sheet of plastic card to make a flatbed. Then I'm using some sprue and other stuff to make railings. Add some blades here and spikes there, and a bit of green stuff to even it out, and I think it will look nice.

And.... stage 1 done. Gotta let some greenstuff harden so that I can finish the model in the morning. Looks pretty decent, I like it
