I have been lurking on Dakka for about a year now and have been impressed with lots of conversions. I saw one set, I think by Blackhand who was doing Skaven IG. One of the pictures there was of a rat with a kroot gun. I was surprised that it was a guardsman and not a kroot. Well, that gave me an idea to do some converting of my own. I have never cared for the Tau models, except for the tanks and love the skaven models. So I thought I would share and maybe inspire someone else.

With the release of the 8th ed and the Isle of Blood set, I decided to kill two birds with one pulse rifle- I would make a themed army that could be used for both systems. And the Skaven Tau (or Skau pronounces sk-OW! by the locals) were born. I am in the Little Rock area, so take that as you will.
I was helped by MAS with their wonderful Ashigaru and Samurai Nezumi heads. I ordered the former and it took 13 days for me to get them. So I knew someone was smiling down on me, yes-yes!

After much planning I came up with the following plan:

Fire Warriors and Pathfinders would be based on Stormvermin. Kroot would be off of Gutter Runners. I would use the new Queek model for my commander with some converting. Yes I would add an ethereal- why? Because he is in the list. And he would be based off the Grey Seer off the Screaming Bell.

However, how could I use these in Fantasy? Well, the Fire Warriors would have magnet bases (as would they all) and be placed on cavalry bases to act as Jezzails. The others would be put on 20mm bases and then modeled in a way that they could still be ranked up.

However, more can be read at http://gribardsonsmodeling.blogspot.com/

And without further adieu here are some pictures of what I have so far (picture quality not the best):
