Is the tyrants legion army list roughly balanced? I ask because me and a friend are having a campaign to celebrate the new year and the tyrants legion represents what I like to use very well, but I don't want to have an unfair advantage.

Is this the one that allows you to mix up imperial guard and space marine units? Well since its an imperial armour book it can either be seriously overpriced for what it does or too cheap and be uber amazing most of the time. Haven't played the list myself but it looks like it could be a fun theme list for large scale games.

Very few Forgeworld units are balanced properly, though they tend to, with very few exceptions, over price everything. So while it's not actually balanced, it's against you rather than for you.

Basically, he'd probably have the advantage, not you.

Who cares if it is balanced - it looks a lot of fun.

IMO, the loss of combat squadding, the inability to take assault squads, vet squads, etc, more than makes up for the conscripts you can take.

I am planning to use this list myself. Got to get my 40-man conscript squad painted this holiday.

Out of interest, will you be using it AS the Tyrant's Legion, or to represent another force of your own devising?

I'll summarize the review for you: it's a pretty awful list. Your buddy should be glad you picked that instead of, say, DKoK or ABG.
