For artwork and a few conversions try Deviant Art, there's a hell of a lot of images there (some of it actually being from the GW artists). The Vostroyan officer models are a good option if your wanting the more steampunkish look (just lob off the heads and replace them with something less Russio looking if you care to). Reaper Minis offers a load of models that would work for Rogue Traders if you have the time to look through their expansive catalouge too. GW's own specialist games store section of their website has a few Inquisitor scale models of Rogue traders that could be used as inspiration, or maybe some of the Necromunda Bounty Hunters could work too? If you can get hold of a copy of one of the Dark Heresy roleplaying game books there's a load of images in them of Rogue traders, Inquisitors and the like which might help aswell.

Check the website fantasyflightgames.com, they're the makers of the 40K RPG's and there's quite a bit of artwork floating around from the game Rogue Trader, that should get you some good inspiration.

A rogue trader army? As in the private army of some influential privateer? Rogue Traders usually work for rebelious planetary governors and factions, but a band of mercs could work. Google's a godsend here, but here's a random example of an article about building an explorator fleet including some Rogue Traders: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220260

Rogue Traders work for themselves not measly planetary governors.
They have letters of marque that give them carte blanche to go 'out there' trade and expand the reach of the imperium.
They've been known to have IG regiments or SM companies along for the ride (at least in the original RT edition of 40k).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
