So right now I'm going to purchase the WoC Battalion and Codex.

I'm now wondering what are also notable purchases I should make.

I can think of HQ's for right now.

But which ones? I see that Sorcerers are quite common and exalted Heroes.

If I'm to play low points from 300-1500 should I go with those two said HQ's or others?

I can tell you are new to fantasy. In fantasy, ''HQ's'' are called Lords and Heroes. The book is not called codex but ''Armybook''.

The battalion comes with really everything you would need but a Leader, but I would start off with a hero at such a small point scale.

Chaos warriors are just flat out brilliant. You can never go wrong with them, maybe even try fielding them en masse.

Chaos hounds, as big and cool as they are, are sadly only meant to be screens. Think like the tyranid hormagaunts. They are meant to be shot up and killed, but it is not unheard of for them to charge and defy rank bonuses..

Marauders are SO underpriced in my opinion. The kit is awesome, too, not to mention the battalion comes with 4 more marauders than a box would (16)

HTH..

In Fantasy these days, it's your infantry doing the lions share of the fighting.

As said above, you literally cannot go wrong with Warriors and Marauders. Marauders are vomit inducingly cheap. 5 points with Flail if memory serves so you can comfortably field a horde or two, and seriously mess up the enemy, no matter how heavy they might (see nancy Swordmasters for instance. Sure, they'll kill a load of you, but with 40 in a unit, they won't be getting it all their own way!

But yeah, Batallion and Army book is a solid start, as there is nothing in the Batallion you wouldn't want in a basic army, and it of course saves you a few quid as well.

I was going to purchase the following

1 WoC Battalion
1 WoC Army Book
1 Chaos Sorcerer
1 Khorne Chaos Champion

Sound good to start off?

Any suggestions?

Not sure how fluffy a sorcerer in a Khorne army would work, but if it fits your style go for it.

the caption doesn't fit..but you get it.

I think that is a perfect start. Like the others are saying a battalion, pretty much for any army, is a great place to start. The only other suggestion I might add is to get another box of warriors instead of the two characters and see if you can't convert them into a sorcerer and exalted hero, then you can bulk out a unit of warriors to 18-20.

Oops. I forgot to mention that just because you pick up a khorne champion doesn't mean your whole army has to be khorne. For that matter you can paint the khorne champion to fit the other marks instead. Also if you do go all khorne, the army still might pick up a sorcerer just as an added bonus/protection from other magic armies.

My next purchase will probably be a box of Warriors and or Marauders.

However... first thing I'm getting is Archaon, The Everchosen. (Please tell me he can be fielded as a Lord on a Mount in count as games.)

Sweet!

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm all down for using him as what he is. But nothing wrong with an Epic Chaos Lord right?

Casual games I'm sure you could use him (just tell opponent). Though if I remember correctly his base is 50x50 (instead of 25x50 for calvary). The model itself is really great. The unit....I hate him.

I've heard people say hordes of marauders with flails are pretty nasty, btu I dont have the book.

I guess I could always magnetize him to a 25x25 and 50x50 yes?

Actually, I think all the demonic mount lords are on 50mm square bases and not 25x50 bases.

According to the Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount product page it comes with a 50mm square base.

Steed of Slaanesh being the exception, as that should be a 25x50 base (and is opposed to the boobworm, which is in fact a 'demonic mount' and rides a 50x50).

My list seems to be alot like yours using a Khorne Lord and Nurgle Lvl2, except I replaced all the troops with maraduers instead of warriors, also look at a Shagoth as their awesome

Very weird.
