Just a few notes on the rationale for the sale:

-- To be honest, we don't want to work hard between Christmas and New Years :-)
So, we reward customers willing to wait for things to get to some semblance of normality in early January.

-- To be even more honest, sometimes I feel like the only one in this industry working between Christmas and New Years.
It can get frustrating. Our suppliers outside the US? All closed - period. US manufacturers and distributors? Skeleton crews. USPS is recovering from Christmas, UPS is on holiday schedule. Delays, delays, delays are the order of the day. Ordering between Christmas and New Years is probably not going to speed your order anyway.

-- To be brutally honest, it doesn't get much better in early January either.
All of our manufacturers, distributors and suppliers are slow to get going in January. So please don't email me about how your January order arrived later than expected! For your patience, we got you this nifty discount for your real Christmas present! .

I wrote to The War Store early this morning and asked if they'd have the new Skaven items up on their own Advance Order page before the big sale this coming weekend and they said yes and the codes are now up here, including the Uniform Guide, which is a splash release for independent sellers, meaning they'll only have a limited number they can obtain and sell.

$100 item is normally 20% off = $80
5% of 80 is 4. So the total cost is $76 or $24 off the $100 GW price.

The Warstore's New Year sale is still more expensive then Miniature Market's everyday price. Plus you have to pay for shipping at the Warstore where it's free from MM after $75. I've ordered from both stores, and MM's service has always been as good as the Warstore and shipping is equally as fast. I just pay less

$100 GW:
from Warstore = $80+5.95shipping = $85.95
from Warstore w/sale = $76+5.95shipping = $81.95
from MM = $75+.75shipping = $75.75

I took it upon myself to do so the last time and Kyoto did so this time because if you don't then invariably you get people arguing over how this additional 5% off actually works. So, to try and avoid that, we've been including the explanation in each such sale announcement.

So, who's taking advantage of this sale? I'm working on my list right now. I'm going to get a Hellpit Abom, Plague Catapult, some stuff for my new Ork army and maybe a couple Ogre Battalions while the price on them is still oh so good. That's massive savings over list price, especially with the flat $5.95 shipping and no sales tax.

Agreed. Unless you are spending a huge amount of money then 1% isnt much to worry about...and if you are spending a huge amount, you wont be worried about 1%.

When I got the email from the site I started looking at what i was going to get, mostly vehicle parts for magnetizing, and he will ship to me at an APO adress so I am really happy about that.

Hmm....that sucks. I paid for an order I placed on the 28th last night and no mention in the email or back and forth about an extra 4% off. I'm gonna have to email Neal and see about that. Oh well, heres hoping my 5 IG Battleforces and assorted bitz and painting stuff come in quick

If you used the coupon code, the extra 5% off War Store prices will appear as a line item like this:

Discount: ($xx.xx)

But, you had to use the discount code and you have to wait for your "Pre-order confirmation" notice to see it.

Also, note that the sale is on orders placed between Dec. 31 and Jan. 4.

I had a good laugh at this part. Neal is spot on here. Half my suppliers are off for 1-2 weeks at the holidays, and I'm working my ass off.
It does feel like you're the only one working. Especially when I'm here on New Years day with a hangover.

I ended up spending my birthday money on this sale and got mostly anima tactics models and two warmachine solos. legacy of solomon is a beautiful sculpt.

Two local gaming and comic shops had after-Christmas sales so I ended up doing my buying there. Got Blood of Martyrs and Into the Storm (Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader books) a bunch of TPBs and some IG stuff.
