I am building a 10 man squad of marines. I have been trying to position the bolters to look like the marines are shooting from the hip as the charge forwards. I have seen it done by a local guy but haven't been able to find him to ask. Can anyone help?

I would get running legs from an assault squad and then turn the models at the hip

you can take the arm, do some filing, cutting, and gap filling. essentially, you want to turn the bolter forward, but then you will have to angle the arm back. Now the bolter is pointing down, so you need to repose the hand so its shooting forward. Now take the left arm and you will have to do some more cutting, filing and sculpting to have it reach across the chest to grip the bolter--THIS is the hard part, because the arms don't like reaching over the marines fat chest.

Likely, you will have to aim for some sort of compromise, half-firing from hip, and half-turned torso. One thing you COULD do, is just change the angle of the arm, and fill the gap with green-stuff. Of course, the shoulder now thrusts out and it might look awkward, so you might have to fiddle with this till you are satisfied.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from.
