Cultist of Nurgle with Open Sores

Has anyone ever tried an Epidemus list with a Fateweaver. I was thinking about it and was wondering what you guys thought or if you have some expierence with the prinicple idea.

No experience with that combination, sorry. I also think that by combining them you sacrifice a lot of needed Nurglemarked killingpower for relatively small gain. Kairos costs 333 points, thats a lot of points when you desperately need 3 Princes and maybe even a GUO. I say the gain is relatively small because Nurgle units are allready notoriously tough to kill. Making them even tougher by spending a lot of points suffers from diminishing returns.

Adding The Blue Scribes to a Nurglelist I could understand however. They would add Pavane (to help with the whole Slow and Purposefull stuff) and a Bolt to crack transports from range. Problem is, IMO an Epidemiuslist doesn't leave much room for improvisation the first 1750 or so points.

This sample list is pretty much a manditory core I think
165 GUO, CoF
110 Epidemius

210 14 Plaguebearers
105 7 Plaguebearers
105 7 Plaguebearers
105 7 Plaguebearers
39 3 Nurglings

215 Prince, MoN, Wings, IH, CoF, Touch
215 Prince, MoN, Wings, IH, CoF, Touch
215 Prince, MoN, Wings, IH, CoF, Touch

That makes for a 1484 point list. I suggest adding either a Blue Scribes or Herald of Tzeentch for the remaining HQ-slot and maybe some Flamers for Elites and Screamers for FA-slots untill 1750 points.

Only at 2000+ points would you have enough room to wiggle to make place for Kairos. Even then, why would you want to. The great fear in playing an all Nurgle list is not: will he kill me (where Kairos would help)... But rather: I hope Im able to kill him in time. You need units that kill to support this list. (Therefor, over 1750 points I'd suggest Fiends of Slaanesh before all else).

Fiery the angels fell; deep thunder rolled around their shores; burning with the fires of Orc.

Armies:
Daemons: 5000+ points
CSM/Black Legion: 5000+ points
Deathwatch/Knights: 5000 points

I tend to agree with Cilithan. To maximize Epidemius' army effect, you need to have a lot of killy-Nurgle stuff on the table soon.

And then from another point of view, Fateweaver's army effect is not particularly helpful to Nurgle armies, relatively speaking. Rerolling saves helps daemons survive, of course, but Nurgle armies are already pretty durable without the rerolls, being high toughness. So in effect you'd be paying a premium in terms of point cost for a benefit that is much less valuable than it would be to, say, a Khorne- or Slaan-themed army.

If you're including Fateweaver for the shooting power, I'd find Tzeentch options that cost fewer points.

Agreed! Instead of the fateweaver you could get 3 tzeentch heralds on chariots. All the demonic gaze/bolt shots will be useful in blowing open transports and gettings to the guys inside out of the tanks so you can get that tally up.

Honestly the biggest threat to the epidemius build is transports. If your only way to get rid of tanks is assault then against an all mounted army (which there are a lot of) it will be at best turn 3 before you can even start getting the tally up (land 1, assault tank 2, assault guys 3), and you've eaten 2-3 turns of shooting in the mean time. If you survive the tally might get up to a useful number by turn 5, and then the game might end.

Fateweaver can be great, but you need to use those points to get the most anti tank shooting that you can, and I think there are better options in the codex.

On a side note in general I am not a fan of the epidemius list. In order to get the tally up you need to kill troops. Almost all the tally buffs make you better at killing troops. The buffs make you better and something you already built yourself to be good at. It's just too inflexible for me.
