Hello all , new to Warhammer and really excited about building up an army of my favorite monster, Orks!
I split the price of the AoBR with a buddy of mine and then picked up a few extra Boyz on ebay.
The following is the result of Christmas weekend with my Wife out of town.
Let me know what you think. Go easy on me, I new at this stuff!

Da Boyz and Nob Boss Grotkicka. My first conversion is also in this pic. Boss pole made of a Big Choppa, and some plasticard.

Not bad at all.
But, use more layers for highlighting, and mix colors so you don't get so hard contrasts on the skin.

And btw, WAAAAGH

How did you get the skin tone like that?

First layer was black krylon primer, however I didn't wash my plastic like I read people like to do.

Second layer was base coat of Ork Hide green.

Third Layer was Goblin Green.
This layer was done by applying the paint to the most raised areas for highlighting.
I didn't dry brush this layer on, instead I intentionally painted the area with clear demarks between it and the Ork Hide layer.
My logic here is that what I'm painting is a table top army, not a photographic army. I want the skin to really POP with contrast
and saturation and be very visible from about 3-8 feet away. Similar to how stage makeup is applied for the audience, not the camera.

Last layer was half Goblin Green and Half antique white (from a different vendor, not GW)
This layer I repeated the process of painting just the most raised highlights with clear separation from the previous layer.

It's just a standard paint color scheme you can find on lots of painting sites, but my twist kind of made it look different.

Thank so much for the feedback y'all!
I'm going to marathon 10 Nobz, 5 Lootas, and a hand full of HQs over new years.
Going to step it up a notch on the HQs and boss pole Nobz.

That is without a doubt the best looking banna pole I've ever seen.

Thank you very much. That is a huge compliment!

Now I can't wait to finish up my Badmoon Nobz and Loota's. Hoping to step it up a notch as I get more comfortable.
Plus, I have a few HQs that I'm planning on giving some loving care.

I'll post those when they are done as well.
