Hey,

Maybe you have encountered this problem before or noticed it: Waiting a long time because the other person has got an insane large amount of troops and has to move everyone of them, has got to shoot with them and then assault you.

As an IG player I have the secret wish of fielding an entire army of just guardsmen.
However when I tried this in 500 or 1000 point games my opponents complained that my turns took way too long. Maybe twice the length of an Eldar or Chaos deamon player. Setting up also takes a long time.
So I'm curious if there are any other players that have encountered problems like this. Is there a way to speed this up?
The avarage turn goes like this:
I think of what to do, look what is left and decide what I will try to do.
Sometimes I move certain units or groups.
Then I fire, this takes a while because of the orders I hand out and just because I have got a lot of troops.
Assault... Well I tend to skip that one.
Any advice for speeding up gameplay would be nice.

A horde guards army is usually rather slow to play, even more so if you compare it to elite armies like eldar and armies like daemons that often give up whole phases.

There is just a few things you can do to speed it up. The first one is simply to play faster. This might come as a "duuuhh" comment but practice make perfect.
Another thing you could do is to have a basic movement/shooting plan before your turn begins. Think about what you need to do during your opponent's turn and you might speed it up a bit.

which gets even weirder, seeing how you americans tend to use [the F-word] more often in various meanings than a smurf would use "smurf".

Movement trays might help with deployment/movement/running.

Other than that...bring an interesting novel for your opponent to read?

Dice batching is a great way to speed up firing. Have enough dice that are small enough for you to fire a unit- no more, and no less. Then just take away dice due to casualties, don't count up to the full amount. Assume you have the full complement, and subtract to the desired value. Alternatively, several sets of 20 and a good dice tray will accelerate your play.

I second the movement tray idea. I play Nids and tend to have a similar amount of Gaunts during the game. At some point I just stopped caring about them being so close together and just shoved them with a brush.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
