If you have Chimeras for your vets (so you can move them around) why take LCs?

Have to agree. Drop the lascannons and get the plasma squads an extra plasma gun. FS vets look like they'll need more to be useful. If you just wanted some backfield objective holders then a platoon could fill that role in. Rather have the CCS as a gun boat but there may not be room for an extra chimera. Not a big fan of the punisher, rather get another demo tank.

Far too many lascannons in there. Are you facing a tank company or something? I'd swap them out for autocannons so they're more capable of taking down infantry, whilst still maintaning their tank hunting role somewhat, or if your intention's just to drive-by your opponent with those chimeras, just strip out any heavy weapon at all and cut down the squad numbers. Also having forward sentries on the last vet squad and nought else but a lascannon really does limit their effeceincy. If their going to be sitting in cover all game it'd be better to give them camelion instead and add in some more fire power. Your choices of Russes are a bit over the place too. Punisher's just aren't worth their points as they really'll only wound your opponents about a quarter of the time at best, and they generally suck against anything but the weakest armoured horde armies-which with all the marine and tank killing death in there I suspect you won't be fighting. As for the other russes I personally I wouldn't go for the sponsons on the Executioner as it makes it just too much of a target and you'll rarely be firing all of them at the same time unless you want to expose yourself. Demolishers are good, but it does mean that you'll have to get closer to the enemy to fire it, but if you have all those chimeras running around, and maybe if you stick in another of them instead of the punisher, it may draw away fire from it. Tool up your command platoon with some cheap special weapons like sniper rifles too so as they can do something other than just give orders and maybe strip out the advisor to make them less of a target as almost everything else has some form of proction, wheras they are just a tiny, but valuable squad with a paltry 5+, best to hide them out somewhere in your deployment zone and let them do their thing-camelion could increase their survivabilty if you have the points.

Sorry if that's all a bit convoluted, just off the top of my head critic. Try and post your tactics and regular opponents next time too so as we can have an idea how your going to use your army. Hope at least some of that helps. ^^

If you're going to stand any chance with foot veterans, you either need to include a regular infantry platoon to boost your overall infantry presence, or at LEAST take 6 full units of vets.

Also, as mentioned, the upgrades could be done a little better. I'd seriously consider homogenizing your armored portion of your list in order to free up points for this.

For the same reason I dated that one girl in college: Flexibility. Besides, it's actually mostly a mech bunker up list. the chims will only be moving about half the time, and the long range firepower for 2-3 turns is well worth the lost cost of a 20 point investment.

making them autocannons might not be a bad idea though. Also thought of replacing the meltas with plasmas, but don't have the models.

goal here is to turtle up in the chimeras and blast away, special weapons are there for when the enemy gets into close range, if they dare to approach.

Tanks just go out spread panic/target confuison.

Is there a "thumbs down" orkmoticon?

This strategy is doomed to failure. The reason why is because long-range firepower is much worse in 5th ed than it was in 4th, due to a variety of reasons (outflanking, running, everything getting 4+ cover, etc.) This means that you're relying on what will actually be a pretty pathetic amount of firepower to stop your opponents in the roughly two turns it takes for them to get to your lines.

Once they get there, your vehicles are going to be dangerously weak. The first melta hedge you come across, or the first opponent who realises what "auto-hit with assault grenades against rear armor 10" means is going to rip your army to shreds once they get in close. The few special weapons your vets are carrying will be poor consolation, especially when you're arming them the way you are.

Plus, stationary armies run against the meta of the game anyways, what with objectives and all. You don't even catch a break with kill points games due to bringing a transport-based army.

Cmon, be nice. Even if you don't think the list is great, at least be respectful.

drop the lascannons, they work ok for defending artillery (what i use them for) and then you dont need more tahn 1 or 2, spend the points on another tank, maybe a devildog or banewolf, or put HK's on everthing, its a better waste of points than 6 lascannons, also, drop MOO, he blows, waste of points, unless your running an arty list your never going to hit anything.

Please visit my Trade Thread I'm always looking for something and usually have something up for trade.
