Hello fellow dakkaiets, I was just wondering if any of you are the type of people who 'demands your army must be painted before it is fielded!'

I want to pick your brains and ask for your opinion on this, as I think its a pretty bad thing since I struggle with my painting at the best of times (5 years of rugby and constant injury will not compliment your ability to pick out every single bloodletters spots for highlights ) And if you feel its right to pressure/nag other players into finishing their armies.

I personally would much rather do 'relaxed pressure' approach, which several people locally do which is simply 'tournament, painted armies only. You have 5 weeks, go go go!'

I always have my stuff painted. I'd prefer other people to but that's their call.

Proxy models and incorrectly modelled equipment is much more annoying than lack of paint. (that might just make me decide I don't want to play)

Personally I like the modelling aspect of the hobby more than painting or even playing. I have no problems with others using unpainted or even incomplete models to play, so long as I know exactly what that model has.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I don't like fielding unpainted armies/models simply because when I look over and see that my regular opponent has managed to fully paint (and paint quite well) their army/new models in a few days, it puts me to shame with my unpainted/half painted stuff.

Admitedly I'd say that a good portion of those at my local GW have fully painted armies and when they do come into the store if they haven't got all their models painted they'll do that rather than game. However though I'm not one of them and I think I've only ever had one fully painted army that I regularry used due to lack of time and will to paint and an unfortunate accident with a hobby knife when I was younger which left me with the most jittery hands in wargaming. I don't care if my opponent has or hasn't got a fully painted army, that they were able to assemble the whole thing at all and are a nice enough person is what makes a game for me. If your having trouble painting a lot models at one time just go for the simple method of sticking on a chaos black undercoat and dry brushing on each of the primary colours before dry brushing on the much and gristle. They may not be the best painted models, but their painted and grimy enough to fit with the setting. =P

Honestly if I play someone regularly and they are making regular progress painting their force between battles I have no issue with them. Though I will be much more interested in fights against painted armies as I just find it far more entertaining than seeing a horde of primed/plastic/metal units. If I can I will field everything I'm using in a game painted because of this. Exceptions usually being if I am trying proxy units to test how well they perform for me in my army before making/buying them. Or new models I might have only bought that day/week.

I know what you mean about rugby injuries and painting - trying to bend my neck the day after playing in the front row is not an option!

But yeah I field a fully painted army most of the time, but I also know as i'm building it up it'll be used in various states of work.

Progres is good though, cause in the end 2 fully painted armis clashing the dogs.
