Well seeing as I was given the challenge of putting together a "Claw only list" with the limitation being that every unit has to have Claw in either the unit name or wargear...hear goes.

See this actually doesn't look bad, definitely looks fun. When I was drawing up a list I was actually trying to work in more skyclaws to incorporate a wider range of Claw models, but I like your biker concept.

After I actually setup the challenge to you, I actually pondered over how dedicated transports would work. We don't want to limit the mobility of the army just because of the "must include claw rule." I'm glad you figured the same thing, that dedicated transports are more a grey area going around that rule.

I was thinking Land Raiders for the Blood Claws; however, that would eat up a lot of points and hinder the weight that this force bears.

Honestly, I think this list could actually be pretty badass if played right...now I just need to buy some bikes!

Swiftclaws are terrible. BS3 melta guns do not impress me. Blood claws are terrible when compared to grey hunters. Wolf Guard on bikes are over priced. Put your lord on a TWM and call it a day.

personally, go all out

6X15 units of bloodclaws, each with a power weapon or claw
then attach 6 wolf guards with fists

actually that sounds like a horde of marines, could be fun

Well...DooDoo...you certainly are insightful...nothing can be garnered from you so we'll move on.

Lou, your idea of 90 Marines in Power Armor has always intrigued me. I've run variations with Grey Hunters or Land Raiders as I only have 30 Blood Claw models...who knows, maybe one day I'll try the 100 Marine March. It'd be silly fun if you were to combine them with Ragnar and Wolf Priests. I would love to take that against Green Tide.

Soooo what would this be going against? Is your opponent going to run an equally amusing list? It sounds fun, but against anything conventional I feel it will be slaughtered to a man in 2-3 turns.

Perhaps a list full of Thunderwolves with Wolf Claws in their Wargear, and 2-3 Thunderwolf Lords with Wolf Claws, then Blood Claws in Razorbacks for troops? I'm not a big fan of that style list but it does fit the bill and I think it would be much better.

If this list was on the table it would be something equally amusing.

One could get away with the Razorback Blood Claws with Thunderwolves. Maybe do something like this:

H.Q.

Thunderwolf Lord
Wolf Claw, Storm Shield, Runic Armor, Saga of the Bear -250

Troops

Blood Claws 5x
Melta Gun, Las/Plas Razorback -155

Blood Claws 5x
Melta Gun, Las/Plas Razorback -155

Blood Claws 5x
Melta Gun, Las/Plas Razorback -155

Blood Claws 5x
Melta Gun, Las/Plas Razorback -155

Blood Claws 5x
Melta Gun, Las/Plas Razorback -155

Fast Attack

3x Thunderwolves
Wolf Claw/SS, SS, Naked -230

4x Thunderwolves
Wolf Claw/SS, SS, Melta Bomb, Naked -285

4x Thunderwolves
Wolf Claw/SS, SS, Melta Bomb, Naked -285

Total: 1825

I like that a lot better actually. Though it's hard to get any kind of real ranged support in a list since there is no heavy support unit with "Claw" in its name.

Well if you want deep support;

Exchange out the pack of 3 Twolves for 2 squads of scouts with melta and attached WG with combi-melta and wolf claw. *Technically* the wolf guard is part of the unit and follows their rules thus could be applied to the ruling on the field

Goes after devastators, long fangs, tanks, etc.

The thunderwolves are mean, but I dont understand your fetish for Blood Claws... for the extra points the GH are better in all combat roles.

I like both lists. I enjoy using Blood Claws from time to time, they aren't entirely hopeless, only mostly so, and on the charge with a Wolf Priest can be downright nasty. The idea of creating a list based on a specific theme was cool.

If I were to pick between the two lists you wrote I would go with the TWC based list. The bike list is really cool, and would look awesome on the table top but the TWC are more survivable, competitive, and much better in h2h.

Yeah, the whole Claw challenge was an interesting exercise in list building. Not to mention fun as hell to play.

Oddly enough, this list went against a Warrior Heavy Tyranid list and was downright ridiculous.
