What weapons come in the XV8 crisis suit box? The pictures on the GW site only show a plasma rifle and a missile pod. Do they come with burst cannons?
Additionally, what else comes in the Commander box? Airbursting Frag Projector? Cyclic Ion Blaster?
One more question, does the XV8 that comes in the battleforce include the same stuff? I'm breaking into tau, and want to see if I need to buy a lot of stuff to get the parts I need.

Basic Crisis suit comes with 1 of each standard weapon system(and 2 gundrones, and a few extra bits to represent most wargear choices including a Shield generator).
Crisis Commander box includes all the same stufrf as the basic Crisis suit box and includes Metal bits for all the Special issue weapons and a few other bitz and bobbins(including a new metal head)
The battle force includes 1 regular Crisis suit box(you can still use it as a commander without issue)
For just starting tau i would recommend either magnetizing all of your Crisis suit's weapons/wargear and all 4 hardpoints or adding double pins to each so you can easily swap everything out(I am expecting to see a new tau codex within 2 years, and options may change, or the weapons themselves may change).

Thanks for the help Kel! Yeah I was planning on using magnets. I wish the crisis suits came in a larger box (I.E. more than one) since they are such an integral part of the Tau army. It would make our lives much easier.

You dont need to magnetize any of the Tau Crisis weapons (except for the metal ones since they are metal). The Tau Battle suit is designed so that the slots clamp down on the pieces. If it gives you trouble (it hasnt give me, and I have 4 crisis suits) just use a bit of blu tac.
The Crisis suit is one of the best sets ever, since it's modular as detailed above, and one of the few sets to actually come with all their options (although some pieces are kinda hard to identify without the book). It's ashame you only get one model out of it.
Also, if you're breaking ground on a new tau army, get the Skyray box. Apparently it can make the Hammerhead too and is cheaper. See if you can find some sprues online for the box contents.

true but a boxed full unit would have to cost at least $66 US; and GW doesn't like to even try selling single boxes for that much(unless they are super heavies or include great values like the imperial Sector/strongpoint, Battleforces, etc). The tau Battle force is a wonderful value, especially since it is pretty much the only Battlforce out there that contains a (relatively) fieldable army right out of the box(i.e. at least 1 HQ, and 2 Troops). 3 tau Battle forces will net you 5-6 Troops choices, and 2-3 Elites(depending on whether you like Stealth suits); then all you need is a few sets of Pathfinders to fill out your Fast attack choices(you already have the 3 devil fishes) and several Hammerheads or Broadsides for HS.

It wouldnt be hard to make them cheaper though. Battlesuits have about as much plastic as a Ravenor and those come three to a box for a modest price. Usually single models cost alot more due to packaging and sprue detailing. They could severely reduce costs by putting it all in one box.

I think if they cut out the gun drones and then included 2 suits, they could sell the box for like $30-$35. That would be better IMO

There's alot of empty space on that sprue, and upgrading it to a standard double size (like the one for the Dread) will yield enough space for 3 Battle Suits, all weapon systems, and two gun drones. Given that most 2 standard sprue sets cost around 45-55 bucks here, the Battle Suit price would be severely reduced. However it also means that they need to make a dedicated Battlesuit sprue specifically for the Commander, or else every time someone wants one, they'd have to buy 3 (although I ahve no problems with it).

I'm in the process of magnetizing all my crisis suits. Also if you can get some defiler heads they fit the crisi suits very well & can give them a much "meaner" look.
