Would the following hypothetical situation would be legal:

Lets say that my collection, I've got Ragnar Blackmane, a squad of PA Wolf Guard, 2 squads of Grey Hunters, a Land Raider Redeemer and one squad of Blood Claws.

In an army list, 2 of the three Wolf Gaurd are assigned to Grey Hunter Packs and the third to the Blood Claws. The Land Raider is purchased as a dedicated transport for the Wolf Guard. Could I, in a Dawn of War deployment, deploy Ragnar, The Blood Claws with attached Wolf Guard, and the dedicated Land Raider as my 2 Troops and an HQ?

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

No. The Transport is an additional unit no matter where it comes from.

Sadly not, as the dedicated transport is still an elite choice even if the wolf guards a re-distributed. But if you had logan too you could do just what you now wanted, but no unit can start INSIDE the transport.

As above.

the rules for dedicated transports state they "count as" the slot the unit that bought them takes up, in this case an Elites slot, although they do not use up one of those slots.

If you take Logan to make WG troops you can do it, as now the transport counts as a troops unit.

Thanks for everything so far.

I'm aware that a dedicated transport counts as the same kind of FoC type as the unit it is bought for, but I think I've found a loop hole. In the FAQ, it says that Wolf Guard attached to another unit are counted as that kind of FoC type "for all intents and purposes." If all the Wolf Guard in the unit are assigned to troops choices, wouldn't their FoC type thus become Troops?

I see what youre getting at and this could be taken in either way, but my opinion would be that it would fall into or around the same catergory in which if you have 9 greyhunters and a wolf guard joins them before the battle they have ten models but they still cant take the free special weapon. If you look at it this way before the battle its bought for an elite unit , that elite unit then becomes parts of the grey hunters entirely thus the transport would not even be bonded to that model because he is now a grey hunter for all intent and pourpose and the tank was bought for the wolf guard not the grey hunters and thus count as elite.

My purpose in life is to ruin yours.

The only way for the raider to be a Troops choice is if the Wolf Guard are troops. (i.e. Logan)

Dedicated transports are of the Slot that the unit that bought them is. When you buy the Land raider you are buying it for an Elites choice, therefore it is elites. You do not assign Wolfguard until after you have made your army selection and sometime before you get to the table. One you have assigned a Wolf guard model to a squad that Wolf guard model then becomes a full member of that squad for the game in question, and that includes now counting as a different Slot choice. No matter what slot choices you later assign all your WG to; the land raider(or any other DT bought for them) remains an Elites choice.

I think this is the best explanation addressing the OP's intent.

The only codicies that can start with a Land Raider on the table during DoW deployment are Logan-led Space Wolves and Blood Angels. It's got to be a ded. transport for a Troops choice.

Daemonhunters/Witchhunters can also do it, with an Inquisitor Lord, though the lord himself have to start off the table.
