In particular the tanks?
I have always liked Eldar (started and then sold off some stuff twice....), and am thinking of quickly (like 3 weeks) trying to build a 1500 tournament army, but would seriously depend on how quickly they can be painted (and then afterwards, i could always either touch up or even re-paint the models.....)

Thanks

Gathering the Informations.

Do you have an airbrush or spraybrush of any type?
Are you adept at creating stencils/masks?

If you're good on either part:
You could theoretically paint up a very nice, tabletop quality army using Ulthwe's color scheme(or something similar to such) in a day or two.

I have the GW airbrush....But have never made stencils/masks, how hard are they to make?

Well, if you wanted a temporary paint job, you could coat the models with a few thin layers of hairspray before painting. Be careful, though. The finish will be very fragile, and will wash off in lukewarm water. This would be ideal if you wanted to re-paint them at a later date, but the paint finish would be very vulnerable to chipping.

What colour were you thinking of painting them? Most schemes can be achieved with a simple basecoat + drybrush, or basecoat + wash, for the main armour colour.

It depends on how complex you want it, really.

If you just wanted to do, say, the crying eye that would be easy.

If you wanted a more complex pattern, you'd need to do multiple layers of mask and airbrushing.

Another fairly noobish question about masking....
What do you use? Say i want black stripes, so spray the whole model Black, then want the rest to be blue or something, what do i use to mask the areas i want to be black?

Thanks for your help

Well, if you want to do a very simple mask...
Use Elmer's schoolglue. Water it down and apply it in a straight line. When you peel it off, it won't take the paint with it

Alternatively, you can get masking tape made by Tamiya or Testor's to do the stripes.

Like was said above, it depends on the color scheme/craftworld. I run Ulthwe and they are pretty quick, spray base black, light highlight of white, add a few details and done.
Most aspects I base white, wash, detail, done.
Not fabulous but good table color, plus like said above, you can always go back and add detailing.
A lot of it depends on what units you are using (I hate assembling guardians), if you go mech heavy it should be pretty fast.

I can paint a tank in three days if I spend two hours each day.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

rainbow dashing to your side

I paint a unit of jetbikes in a bout 3 hours but then again I do use a large brush and a lot of washs.

TBH you can paint a good looking army with just washs and foundation paints in three weeks easy if you really put the effort in

Easy enough either get a colored automotive primer from a place like Walmart or get a more expensive spray paint from army painter. Specifically if you want to do sam haim army painter has a nice red sprat pain you could use to undercoat the entire vehicle with. It would be very easy and you could easily finish all your vehicles in a day.
