So after recently getting a copy of red dead redemption for xmas , along with a console to play it on , i was thinking about what a sequel could have .
What i think is thst it could be a prequel , that talks about john's father or johns life inbetween the two games .Another feature that would be good is the ability to customise weapons , clothes, mounts and so forth , what does dakka think , ?

They kept no characters from the first game onto the second so why should characters from the second carry on to the third?

Red Dead Redemption is a better game than the 1st though. I must say.

RDR ends bitter sweet perfectly, so no sequels please. Or at least not one using characters from RDR, which ends in 1914, marking the Wild West as dead.

if it was me i'd do episodes , like with gt4 , that either tell a different story or an intertwining one , such as the mexican rebels

Customization wouldn't make much sense in the context of realism. Part of the reason Red Dead Redemption is so awesome is because it's so true to the time period. Customization of clothes might work in the game's favor (even though I definitely like how outfits give you bonuses in RDR, so I'd prefer they stuck with that system, as it gives you something to work towards), but being able to build custom weapons or somehow modify a horse (instead of going and wrangling the one you want) would throw me out of the experience a bit.

I felt that the narrative in RDR was executed near-perfectly (at least in terms of how it was set up), and a prequel featuring John Marston would cheapen the original game. Perhaps a game featuring John's father would work, but it would be much better if it wasn't incredibly obvious. Though I'm not a big fan of Jack Marston, I wish they would've fleshed out his experiences a bit more with DLC instead of making a crappy zombie mod.

I really can't think of many ways to improve a sequel without ruining what made RDR so amazing as a whole.

I don't like jack either , his voice is annoying and i don't like his design , and after finishing i don't want a sequel , but i wouldn't complain if they did one that didn't change the original storyline
