Howdy,

Ok, so I have lurked for awhile. I have read posts and gotten the lay of the land.

So, my question is: Why do sellers list things as "Make an offer" to me that just does not make sense. You own something, I may want, tell me how much you want for it. If you have me "Make an Offer" I will offer $.50. See, at some point you know how much you want for something, why not just list it?

Is it just me? Do others like the "Make an Offer?"

John

Make an Offer is exactly that...you gauge how much they are willing to part with an item for the price you are willing to pay.

Making on Offer people assume buyers will make reasonable offers. For instance, I ask people to make an offer, but that I usually accept as a guideline between 30-50% of what GW values the 40k items I trade/sell. So I put a context to my items for monetary purposes with a value I would like. You can lowball it if you want. I may or may not accept (really low=probably won't).

OK, now that pic in your sig is funny.

I see your point. I still don't agree with it, but I see it. I think that if you want $20 for a xxyxa, you should post it at that. As a consumer, I don't want to have to look up the value of every fig I am interested in.

There is lots of assumptions that go along with "Make an Offer."

People who chance the market on ebay for instance assume that when they set a bid for .99 USD on a Forge World Baneblade NIB, they expect to get reasonably good amount back for that item as people bid what they want to purchase that item for.

A bit different analogy, but it goes with offering an item and haggling for the value without setting a price.
