The tournie was at my LGS. Three rounds with Swiss pairing. Forces: 2250 points from any current codex or .pdf. BUT: You must include at least one unit that you acquired or received during the month of December! Prizes: Top General (game results plus sportsmanship), plus an award for the best painted new unit.

I brought this:

Warboss on a Bike, PK, combi-skorcha, attack squig, cybork body
Big Mek with KFF

5 Lootas
6 Nobs on Bikes, painboy, AAARGH!!! banner, 2 PK's, BC, BP, cybork bodies (NEW UNIT)

12 Grots plus a herder
7 Nobs in a BW, painboy, AAARGH!!! banner, 2 PK's, BC, BP, cybork bodies
18 Boys and Nob (crazy squig-hair colors, Snake Bites)
19 Boys and Nob (Goffs with checkered helmets)
19 Boys and Nob (Kaptin Ahab and Crew, freebooters)

3 Rokkit Biggies
Deff Kopta, buzzsaw, rokkits
Deff Kopta, buzzsaw, rokkits

3 BW's, 2 with Deffrollas, RPJ's and big shootas, one with reinforced ram, kannon, grot riggers and boarding plank

All missions had additional victory points available - +1 if you killed the most expensive, +1 if you have units in enemy deployment zone, +1 if you killed all HQ's etc.

I played against a Dark Angels force - mission required scoring units to be in opponents deployments - most wins. He had that Sammael on a Landspeeder, an attack bike, 6 bikers, dev squad, melta dread, sniper scouts, squad in rhino, tact squad walking, Pred Annihilator, 5 Termies and Libbie in a Land Raider, 5 man Assault squad.

I drew this game - I had 3 and less than half units in his - half doesnt count though. He tied the game by outflanking an attack bike and 2 units of 3bikers. Brilliant move on his part. It was this game that made me think I should reconsider classifying the Biker Nobs as elites instead of troops. It would be nice to have a fast moving heavy hitting threat available that doesnt count as troops in those instances where I need to divert efforts away from my mission to ensure the opponent doesnt achieve their mission.

MVP of the match was the KFF and Biker Nobz. Opponent had fist turn.

Second game was against an Ork army - 18inch box to deploy in opposite corners of the table, troops choices had to be held in reserve. Victory point conditions. He had mega nobs, 4 BW's, 2 deff dreads, Ork Bikers, 15 lootas, SAQ, KFF, 60 boyz, Nobz.

This was a wierd and fun game - we both reserve everything except small shooty elements - I get first turn and do little as does he. Second turn I get 75% of my force and kill his bikes and lootas. Im mostly in his deployment zone. When his reserve forces arrive - he arrives in my deployment zone. We agreed to just switch sides - first time thats ever happened. I win with a minor victory as Im able to eliminate his unsupported units - killing his most expensive.

MVP - Nob Bikers killing his Lootas and Kaptin Ahab killing off the Mega Nobs. My KFF mek doesnt come in from reserve the whole game - I forfiet his points. My Biker Boss takes on a 30 boyz mob single handedly - narrowly wins combat after 3 rounds.

Third game was against Inquisitor Mak - long time gaming buddy. Kill Point Mission. He brought his new Chaos army. It has elements of all 9 Traitor Legions in it and is lead by Abaddon, 4 Rhinos, zerkers, thousand suns, children, plaque marines, chosen, iron warriors, night lords, word bearers, alpha legion. Not much in the way of ranged fire power - but his force is a brick with a deamon at its center. And Orks like getting close so I knew this was going to be bloody. He deployed Abbaddon in the center with 2 rhinos to either side. Night lords in reserve. Either side I pick, Ill be countercharged by Abbaddon. I send the Bikers up the middle and tentatively snipe at Abbadon's Chosen, seeing if he will commit either of his rhino wings to the fight. He doesnt and so I commit to the attack, hoping I can win on one side. I send the Nobs in a BW left to divert his left wing and commit 75% of my force to his right wing hoping thatll be enough. Abbaddon will hurt. The resulting melee is the largest Ive resolved outside of an APOC game. He has Abbaddon, Chosen, Children, Plague Marines (these were his MVPs), Thousand Suns and 2 rhinos against my Warboss, Biker Nobs, 3 BWs full of 60 Boyz, 2 Deffkoptas. Wound allocation shennigans saved my bacon as well as Abbaddon rolling a 1 on the second round of combat.

I make it through with 2 wins and a draw. 43 points for Generalship. I was Overall Tournie Winner due to painting and sportsmanship scores, Kaptin Ahab's Pirate Ship/BW won lots of points.

Unit assessments:

Deff Rollas - A, awesome for rerolling difficult terrain - did destroy a rhino
Warboss on a Bike - A, Awesome, he survived everygame. Killed stuff left, right and center
Big Mek with KFF - B, kepted the BW's rolling - he didnt show up one game - it was nice playing without him once and seeing what the list can do without him.

5 Lootas - C+, not enough of them do do much with, meh
6 Nobs on Bikes - A, diverted attention away from BW's and Killed stuff, lots of stuff

12 Grots plus a herder - B+, contributed a victory point by being in enemy deployment zone, so cheap and effective scoring unit
7 Nobs in a BW, painboy, AAARGH!!! banner, 2 PK's, BC, BP, cybork bodies - B, very expensive but is nice having 2 havy hitting units and being able to bring a 4th BW.
18 Boys and Nob (crazy squig-hair colors, Snake Bites) - A
19 Boys and Nob (Goffs with checkered helmets) - A
19 Boys and Nob (Kaptin Ahab and Crew, freebooters) - A

3 Rokkit Biggies - C-, didnt produce much at all, I had higher hopes for these guys - Im changing then over to Scorcha's.
Deff Kopta, buzzsaw, rokkits - B+, good harrasing unit, one of them destroyed a BW
Deff Kopta, buzzsaw, rokkits - B+, good harrasing unit, one of them destroyed a BW

3 BW's, 2 with Deffrollas, RPJ's and big shootas, one with reinforced ram, kannon, grot riggers and boarding plank - A
Of all the fire support units - the DeffKoptas were the best.

The Boyz in Battle Wagons, Biker Boss and Biker Nobs and KFF are awesome.

The correct question is, would I be enjoying this hobby if I did this?

The correct audience is you.

Nice report, Dom!

Against the other Ork army, you never got to turn 5? If you had, any remaining reserves automatically show up. I'd have thought you'd get through the turns pretty fast in that kind of game.

Good point Ragnar - this is the one game I believe we did make to turn 5. I dont think it would have broken into a higher bracket though, maybe. I really to get more games in - details like that can really make a difference.
