Ive ordered from a seller on ebay called miniaturemarket...same people?
SoloFalcon1138 wrote:usually, some of that incentive is a place to play, but any more, that's not enough...
Honestly...no. My LGS is extremely tiny, and carries an extremely small selection. The area dedicated to items for sale is only about 8 feet long, the rest of the place is dedicated to 4 or 5 tables. To top it only sells the favored games of the house, 40k and Flames of War. The items they can (or will) get are also pretty much limited to those ranges. Everything is retail price.
Bottom line...if Im going to have to order something and wait to get it, Im going to do it through an online seller that offers a good discount.
However, I do hit the LGS for GW paints, and if they happen to have an item sitting on the shelf that I dont mind paying full price for.

So, when the store provides a place to play/loiter, you'd rather pay someone else's bills?

Well, they dont provide me a place to play, they only do 40k and FoW there, and I dont play either of those. I havent gamed in a store in over 10 years, ever since I moved away from my old LGS.
I have a table and terrain at my house, so I dont need a store to game at.

You're right, it's not enough if you already have another place to play. Next.
In all seriousness, though, a customer has to have a reason to shop at a store. The same is true of all retail stores, not just gaming stores. If you don't give the customer incentive to spend their money (and every customer is different) then they won't spend it.
You also can't tell people how to spend their money.
Also, before you respond with "but then the LGS will close!", note that there are many LGS's that do just fine and don't have to badger folks into spending money at their store to stay in business. They give the customer what they want, and the customer gives them money. It's that simple.

Check these forums, and you'll see this question asked quite a bit.
MiniatureMarket is a B&M store with a web presence. Although they're the same company, they're run from different locations (within the St. Louis area) because the web presence outgrew the extra space in the store (by FAR).
They've been around for years. They are my FLGS. Not only are they honest as a business, their B&M employees are top notch.
They are a paying advertiser over on www.bartertown.com in good standing, where I am an Admin.
You cannot go wrong by trusting these people.
