I have tried to look up any conversation on the above mentioned unit and can't seem to find any using the search function.

I have looked over my present 1850 list and I keep falling around 130 points short of cap, and I would like to compliment what I have going.

Rough list is...
Libby
4x5 Assault Marines
2LC/3Th-SH Termies
2 Baals 1Flamestorm/1Assault cannon
1 Landraider Crusader
1 Landraider Redeemer
3 Priests
3 Razorbacks
ect.

I switch points around and feel like maybe a shooty dread might be ok, but they often get focused quickly if you footslog them, and podding is suicide. Maybe more assault marines, but i don't really think more of them will make a huge difference.

I keep coming back to the Devs I have sitting on my table. While not perfect I feel like 4ML 1Melta in a Razorback fast moving up to some cover and unloading could offer some support against spam lists like Orks/Nids. I feel like I have enough main block kill, with Baals coming in from the side. Adding the Devs makes me feel like I'm adding to target saturation, but I would like to hear from you guys. Are they viable above 1850 for tournament play? At 1850? Lower?

If they aren't viable, let me hear what you guys fill up your heavy slots with. I would love to use Vidis but at 145 points per, they are slightly prohibitive.

My BA list actually runs two units of devs. One 6 man 4 ML squad and one 6 man 4 HB squad.

If they get the rage and become fearless they are awesome, also keeping a Sang priest near by for FNP and those guns just keep shooting all game long.

I use the ML to pop the transports and then the heavy bolters to thin what come out of them. It works for me anyway.

Dont use HB. ML are better even against infantry

Allright I don't use HBs either but saying MLs are better against infantry is laughable.

Why are HB's better against infantry than frag missiles?

ML are better than HB at killing infantry.

HB 2/3 hit 2/3 wound 1/3 get past power armor=4/27 shots drop a MEQ *3shots=12/27 times a HB is shot will=a dead MEQ 44%
Krak 2/3 hit 5/6 kill=10/18 times a Krak missile kills a MEQ 55%

Since most of the infantry in the metagame are MEQ and Krak>HB in killing MEQ then ML are better than HB in killing infantry.

Generally speaking BA can manhandle just about any light infantry unit without power armor in CC, with a couple of rare exceptions like genestealers which are pretty much always going to be in cover. The problem with HB is I just don't see the need for more S5 attacks that don't ignore power armor in a BA army when assault squads can crank out 25 of them in a single turn of CC.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.
