Me and my friend were playing a quick 1000 point game marines vs my IG.

Then something amazing happened my squad of conscripts was facing an assault squad and next turn they were sure to charge so as a last hope i used FRFSRF on them to help take one or two down.

Here is the roll for the order

Now is the first 10 men rolls to hit at rapid fire range:

Now that is alot of hits !!
Here is the first rolls to wound:

:O Enough wounds !
Here is how many wounds were actually counted:

Now for the second lot
To hit:

To wound:

Now for the total amount of wounds :

Remember hitting on 5's and wounding on 5's that is alot of wounds.

Is this rule overpowered?

Considering the luck you had and the fact those marines still have a 3+ armour save means it isn't overpowered.

Yes, it's a crazy amount of shots.

However had 80 guard shoot at 8 bikers the other day, all FRFSRF. 40 in 12" range, 40 outside. So 200 shots.

3 bikes died from the 15 wounds caused. He had the exact opposite luck to you!

Not really a rules question.

Anyway you had really good rolls there. As in you scored four times as many wounds as you might normally expect, really good luck. 60 shots should only expect 20-ish hits in the first place and only a third of those should wound. Twenty lasguns within 12" are getting 60 shots instead of 40, which ordinarly would mean something like seven wounds instead of four. Under most circumstances one extra shot per lasgun isn't that big a deal.

I don't really think it's overpowered either, you just got lucky.

Right.

This is actually why we have things like statistics - to filter out things like luck.

20 conscripts with FRF should kill about 2 space marines. The fact that you wiped out 10 shows that you were extremely lucky.

Rules are made for what one expects to be the result, not what the best possible result would be if you were insanely lucky.

Wrong, rules are made for whatever the result may be, not just the expected result or the best result.

In that case, conscripts should cost 12 points apiece, given what they can do to space marines...
