Hey guys,
I was thinking that Grav tanks aren't exactly the smallest profile items so how would one carry 5 or so to a tournament? The standard GW case is very expensive and doesn't seem to fit more than two.
How does one carry 6 grav tanks to a tournament?
I already have "buy a big gun case and cut foam blocks out of it"... although they don't sell gun cases freely in Victoria and am looking for a reliable source of foam...

Tackleboxes for fishermen or toolboxes for mechanical tools can also be affordable options. You just need space in the box and foam or bubblewrap to surround and protect the models, and keep them from knocking around/rubbing against anything.

Probably 'Big W', at least in Victoria.
I use tackleboxes with foam padding to transport my vehicles, seems to work pretty well, and rather cost efficient compared to GW. Been looking for an alternate that doesn't require making as many trips from my car though.

For my eldar, I use a GW shipping box that my copy of "apocalypse" came in (top/bottom shell). It's big enough to put the Baneblade box inside of it.
Two layers of foam (top/bottom) and the tanks in alternating/interlocked formation. I get 8 Falcon Hulls and assorted turrets into it. It's usually 2 Fire Prisms, 1 Night Spinner, 1 Falcon and 4 Wave serpents (although none of mine have the lionfish spines, they have little crytalline teardrop fake gems to indicate the force fields so they take up less room).
The foam came from Clark Rubber and was an off cut.
This goes into my duffel bag (big sports bag) along with a smaller box (External hard drive case) with my walkers/wraithlords in it (6 WW and 2 WL), the rulebook, codex, templates, dice, etc, AND a small GW miniatures case (the original clamshell one) which has my guardians, rangers, wraithguard and 'seer council'. My other normal GW case carries the aspect squads and bikes. Two bags.
Easily fits into boot of car - or can be lugged onto public transport and carried. This is around 8-9000 pts of eldar though.

I was going to magnetise mine so I could take it apart, especially all the fiddly bits.
