LIST A

Vulkan- 190pts
MOTF - 100pts

Dread, MM/HF drop pod -150pts
Dread, MM/HF drop pod -150pts
Dread, MM/HF drop pod -150pts

This list is pretty self explanatory and I won't elaborate any further

LIST B

Vulkan - 190pts
MotF- Conversion beamer - 125pts
Dread- MM/HF- Drop pod -150pts
Dread- MM/HF- Drop pod -150pts
Dread- MM/HF- Drop pod -150pts
Rifleman Dread- Drop pod Locator Beacon - 170pts
Rifleman Dread- Drop pod Locator Beacon- 170pts
Rifleman Dread- Drop pod Locator Beacon -170pts
Tactical Squad- MG, MM, Combi-Melta Drop pod -220pts
Tactical Squad- MG, MM, Combi-Melta Drop pod - 220pts
5 Scouts, snipers, ML, telion- 135pts

This second list was suggested on yesthetruthhurts.com and is a little more varied. Snipers and MOTF sit in bolstered ruin to provide a firebase. Rifle dreads also sit with snipers and provide long range fire support. Empty rifle drop pods use locater beacons for the rest of the army to come in accuratly.

While I think List A is better on paper, simply because is takes advantage of Vulkans abilities more.

I have to admit though; I like List B a lot too. List be could be terribly effective especially if the Rifleman dreads can get a 50% obscurement from the bolstered terrain, then they also get a 3+ cover save. Only thing I am curious about though, would Telion confer Stealth on the MotF too?

Yes it would give stealth to the MOTF

I like list B better. They are both very solid, if spammy, lists. However the MotF, beyond enabling 6 Dreads, is just sort of there. He can beef up whatever squad he's with, sure. At the very least though, Bolster Defenses would go to waste, probably. In list B, he's going to do something. A ML+Conversion Beamer is probably going to hurt.

I played my first game with list A, and the MOTF did a lot suprisingly. 10 Marines held a bolstered ruin with an objective, and their 2+ g2g saves kept them alive. I also keep him side-by-side with vulkan at all times, to drop a double flamer bomb and follow up assault (killed a bunch of helions with it).

Next game I will try list B, but I must say list A did very well.

I like the second list just a wee bit better since it is more flexible. By experience MotF is better shooting with a conversion beamer.

Wonder what you can do to bump this at 2k? I'm thinking:

HQ:
Vulkan He’stan (190 pts)
Master of the Forge on bike w/ Conversion beamer (155 pts)
Troops:
5-man Scout Squad w/ Sgt. Telion, Missile Launcher (135 pts.)
5-man Scout Squad w/ Missile Launcher (85 pts.)
10-man Tactical Squad w/ Meltagun, Multi-melta, combi-flamer, Drop Pod (220 pts)
10-man Tactical Squad w/Meltagun, Multi-melta, combi-flamer, Drop Pod (220 pts)

Elites:
Ironclad Dreadnought w/ Seismic Hammer, Meltagun, Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod (170 pts)
Ironclad Dreadnought w/ Seismic Hammer, Meltagun, Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod (170 pts)
Ironclad Dreadnought w/ Seismic Hammer, Meltagun, Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod (170 pts)

Heavy Support:
Dreadnought w/ two Twin-Linked Autocannons, HK missile, Drop Pod w/ Locator Beacon (180 pts)
Dreadnought w/ two Twin-Linked Autocannons, HK missile, Drop Pod w/ Locator Beacon (180 pts)
Dreadnought w/ two Twin-Linked Autocannons (125 pts)

Violence is not the answer, but it's always a good guess.
