This Thursday is my first game of 40k I'm playing a friend that is running space marines. I have limits in my personal army list 20 sisters of battle 2 storm bolters and 2 flamers. I have a seraphim squad of 5. and 2 tanks that can be swapped out to be ether rinos exorcists or immolators. I have some grey knighst but Im looking to field mainly sisters of battle until I get used to the game.

Here is the 750 list I have built so far:

Canoness: Power weapon,Bolt pistol (56)

Squad1:
Sister Veteran: Close Combat Weapon,Plasma Pistol, Book of St. Lucius
Sisters of battlex10
Sister with storm bolter

Squad2:
Sister Veteran: Close Combat Weapon,Plasma Pistol, Book of St. Lucius
Sisters of battlex9
Sister with storm bolter

Seraphims:
Sister superior
Seraphimsx3
seraphim with twin flamers
melta bombs

Immolator:
twin linked heavy bolters
Blessed ammo

Exorcist:

This build gives me 5 faith ponits at the start. I know the canoness is weak I'm toying with the idea of a sacrifical HQ, her job in such a low ponit game is to stay alive long enough to spend 2 faith ponits and once she dies I get her 2 faith ponits back as well as the seraphims. if everything pans out I should have 8 faith ponits to spend when all is said and done. My basic plan is to march the 2 squads behind the immolator as a target while my excorist and seraphims take out his units and armor with focused fire. keeping the squads close will allow me to use both on one of his units at a time. Like i said this is my first game I'm not looking to win but to learn.

Welcome to the hobby! It is great fun.

First of all, sisters are a great army but unfortunately, only have a few viable builds if you want to remain competitive.

You MUST max out on exorcists, IMO, as they are your only viable longe range tank killer. Take 3 every time if you have the models.

Secondly, the canonness is far from weak, in fact she is excellent for her points. give her a jump pack, eviscerator, 2+ save, book of saint never run away, melta pistol and she will be able work wonders. She can destroy vehicles, go toe to toe with MCs, kill small squads, is fast and in general is a huge pain in the ass. Great unit.

Your seraphim sister superior needs an eviscerator.

Your sisters squads need either meltas or flamers. I realize you have limited models, but when you have a chance, give them these ASAP plus a rhino. An eviscerator on the sister superior is not a bad idea either as you have to take her for the faith.

Other than that, dominion squads are great for packing in the melta/flamer love. Just remember, your army is overcosted and as such, you need to min/max to level the playing field. But, sisters are still very competitive, you just never see them due to the expense of the models and the fact that they are all metal.

Good luck with it, let us know how your game went.

I perfer the pewter over plastic being a old D&Der. I have melta and some other models on the way per and order from my local shop. this is what I ave to work with so far.

If you have a dremmel you can convert those useless Storm Bolters to flamers. I bought the SM Melta set and just ground out the storm bolter leaving the hands. With some green stuff and shaving of the Melta I fit it back in place and you can hardly tell it didn't come that way stock.

Also, PW on a Canoness is a waste s3 is bad against marines unless you are guard and can field 20 or so PW attacks. Instead kit her out with a Jump Pack as described above. Your VSS should have Books on them to enable them to test on unmodded leadership. The same with the Seraphim, I prefer Melta pistols to the hand flamers (note the hand flamers are not twin linked like the boltguns) but YMMV.

Edit: 3 Exorcists are good, but I usually run 2x of them and have Meltas for the rest of my antitank.

Just to add onto that you can make it a heavy flamer by taking a Ironclad heavy flamer cutting of the flamer part(the barrel you guess) shaving you from off the stormbolter & attaching the flamer part to where the barrel is. then get some gatiar string for hoses and bing bada boom a heavy flamer model

Walking is bad, get transports as soon as you are able.

The Canoness should have one of those plasma pistols, she can use it better and isn't likely to kill herself with it. I wouldn't play plasma pistols on Battle Sisters long term. The Canoness should have one of ths "real" close-combat weapons too. I like the Retinue and I've never liked the Flying Nun. That's just a real easy killpoint in 5th edition.

If you are going to play Battle Sisters, Heavy Flamers are pretty good, I play a melta gun for the other slot. I play Eviscerators in my Battle Sister squads, and a Book is a good idea.

Seraphim are pretty pricey for what they can do, but they can be effective. They've got a couple of tricks based on Hit and Run that can be fun.

Exorcists are key to mech Sisters. There is a way to play without them, but if you plan to play Battle Sister squads, roll with as many Exorcists as you can.
