Subject: Quick question about the IG order Get back in the Fight!

Hey y'all
Lately I was just readin through the Ig codex, relaxin all cool, throwin' some bballs outside of the school when a couple of orks, they were up to no good, started making trouble in ma neighbourhood
(enough Prince of bel air), to the question...
I stumbled upon the "Get back in the Fight" order, which I originaly thought was useless until I wondered if one could just combine it with going to ground.
The codex says that after the order has been used, the appointed squad could shoot and assault as usual.
Does this mean I could for example just go to ground when shot at with my blobs or heavy weapon squads, then hit them with "Get back in the Fight!" and shoot all their guns (in my turn oc)? That would rock! +1 on the cover save, yes please!
Also, it says shoot and assault but nothing about move, I figure this means that they can not move after the order... but how do you assault without moving? (Unless the enemy is in base contact with your guys and simply didn't assault for the heck of it)
thanks
FFE

You can shoot and assault because orders are done in the shooting phase, and your guys are still pinned before that stage (gone to ground) and CANNOT make a 'movement' phase movement. You can shoot and assault as normal AFTERwards (provided you pass the test to understand the order) because it is those phases which you are now active in. Assault moves and shooting phase moves are slightly different from Movement phase moves.

Yes this order is quite effective especially for large combined squads or HW squads in buildings or on objectives 3+ cover and can then still shoot ( GREAT) only problem is if you rely on this the dice gods will punish you and you will fail that vital order Ld roll as my guard do all the time LOL

thanks for the quick response!
I guess it's still fairly usefull. Quick way to give a ton of guardsmen in cover a 3+ coversave and then return fire, I might just make use that^^ (It's just bad if you fail the Get back in the fight test but better having your guys sleep a round than beeing dead^^)

Consider commisar lord with camocloak babysitting them. 2+ cover for whole squad if gone to ground, and ld10 for "get back in the fight" order

80 points for stealth, LD10 bubble, and a few other things is not a big investment at all. Its never a bad idea to toss him in there as a second HQ choice.

80 pts is nearly two whole squads. If we are talking 1.5k then that is a huge investment that warrants working into the basic strategy of the army to get the most out of all the different abilities. If you are taking a ccs too that could be 20% of your army on HQ alone.
Only time i remember using the gbitf after going to ground was first turn of a planetstrike match where creed ordered most of the defenders to get back up after the firestorm. Worked quite well.

its 20points less than a two squads with no upgrades. Its not a huge investment its a damn smart choice to make sure your troops have the LD to do what they need to do.

All depends on how he is used; 80 points to grant stealth's effect, Stubborn, and ld10 to all units in 6" to a 30 man Blob with Special and Heavy in each blob: worth it.
70-80 points just to keep ratlings firing every turn: not as worth it.
