I converted and painted this for a friend for christmas, he's doing the Ultramarines 6th company (the bike mounted one) and wanted a model who could serve as 'Khan' in such a list;

Mt goals with the project: Emphasize the 6th Company (Orange trim). Make the bike look custom, while still retaining a codex feel (It is the ultramarines afterall). If it were for me, I'd probably have added battle damage and weathering, but none of the other Ultramarines in this army are done in that style, so pristine he shall be.

Other than the big purple phallus sticking out of hie left hand, I really like it. I especially like how the bike is ever so slightly askew of the direction of the base.

Yes other than the purple power weapon, everything else looks great IMHO.

I like the power weapon, bu then again I like purple

I shall dub it, 'The Purple People Eating Power Weapon' (it's actually a deamon weapon, but the deamon is content with the lavish tratment the ultras give him, so he doesn't try to kill everyone )

Edit: how did you do the gold?

This is an awesome model. I first thought "Wow, what a cool conversion," but then I noticed the conversion is rather minor, and the coolness is more down to a good choice of bits and great paintjob.

"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "feth" on their airplanes because it's obscene!" (Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now)

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions.

I like it, but I think there is too much orange. It's grating to the eyes. I'd probably have done the Iron Halo and hilt of the sword in gold. But that's merely a comment on color choice, not on the quality of the model.

Also, where did you get that base?

The Orange is deliberate - he's the Captain of the 6th company, and so the orange should stand out - or so I think.

The base is from Iron Halo, they do a huge line of bases, in many different shapes.

I've been doing gold as follows lately:
Undercoat with Tau Sept Oche (foundation paint)
Paint with Shining gold
Wash with gyrphonne sepia
highlight with burnished gold

The conversion is, indeed, rather minor, as the goal is for it to still look like a codex bike. These are Ultramarines afterall.

The most complex part was stretching the front forks. But I didn't want it to be a chopper with exposed forks, because that doesn't seem very space marinish to me, hence covering the forks with the storm shield. Everything else is simply down to adding other existing bits, like the faring from the chaplain bike.

Not a fan of the scheme so much, but many kudos on the quality of the paint job. I do like the base and the purple sword, but like someone else said, I happen to like purple.

If you like your bases, you might like what http://darkartminiatures.com/ has to offer.
Assuming you don't already know them.

What's CBT?

I'm a Harley guy personally. I've never owned a bike under 1300cc.

Compulsary Basic Training

wiki wrote:In the United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland), the term Compulsory Basic Training (abbreviated to CBT) is a preliminary vehicular training course which must be completed by people wishing to ride a motorcycle or moped unaccompanied on the road, and remains valid for 2 years upon completion.[2]

Basically a course you do to prove you're not going to get yourself killed, stops retards going out and getting really powerful bikes as soon as they are legal. that then gives me two years in which to sit my driving test and i'll move up the power ladder from there

See, I want a kawisaki, I don't really like choppers that much, too american (which won't be a problem for you)/biker gang for me and I am aware Kawisaki is Japanese

I get that. I'm just saying, I would have done a few details in other colors, personally. I think it looks great as the trim for his shoulders/bike and where it is on the Storm Shield.

Also, for what it's worth, C:SM lists Captain Epathus as the current 6th Co. Captain.
