Have anybody tried out orks fighting on the side of the imperial guards? Like the barbian auxiliary forces of Roman legions or Vlasov army during WWII.

Orks will only fight on the side of imperials if they share a common enemy.. or are mercenaries like the ork pirates.

I think is more an human problem than an ork problem. You know, for the heresy and xenos and all that...

There are some Ork bands that form mercenary groups.

But there are two problems.

One, Guardsman, and the Imperium as a whole, despise Xenos, and accept for a few radical Ordo Xenos inquisitors, would eliminate any alien on sight.

Two, Orks are payed in teef, and human teef are small and worthless. Plus, they don't grow back when they are punched out of our skulls to settle a debt.

Thats basically the only problem.

I think that the ork mercenaries are payed with technology and loot, but correct me if i'm wrong.

Teef = Ork currency.

I'm not sure Orks would have use for technology. Whatever they need, Meks just bastardize together.

yeah, but they are always looking for more Dakka.

Give them loot and they will help you... maybe.

The reputation of Blood Axes suggests they accept enlistenment ( and loot IG and the opponent afterwards...).

The only way i can see loyalist IG and Orks working together, is if the Nids reach armageddon. on that day, Ghazgkull and Yarrick will set aside their differences, and beat the out of the nids. then they will proceed to decimate eachother again.

Orks use teeth for currency amongst themselves. That doesn't mean that goods are suddenly valueless.

Meks can make stuff but they need materials. Someone has to be producing all the ammunition that they get through.

There are examples in the ork codex of weapons and ammunition being demanded of human worlds. There are also references to human slaves in factories producing stuff. I would imagine that engines and vehicle chassis are probably also desirable. Not to mention simple things like nuts and bolts, tubing, electrical cables. While they could make these, it would be an enormous boost to production if they had a supply of manufactured materials.

If you have a read of IA8, it gives a little insight into the logistical demands of a Waagh.

A Warboss will have to pay alot of teefs for a Leman Russ tank, instead of bashing his own boyz' head in, he could work for the imp guard and get one for bashing other people's heads in. There are other ways to pay Orks.

If memory serves the fluff behind the Battle of Big Toof River had the Imperial forces using Ork scouts. When making my own Praetorian force I considered using Orks as a penal troops unit and may still in the future because I like the idea of non-standard army compositions.

Not totally right. The teef is ORK currency, but they will and have fought for guns/vehicles/slaves. Sides more then likely they will just turn on the IG afterwards for more of that, as well as a reason to fight.

I can see Yarrick standing back while the green horde clashes with the gaunts and picking off MC's with tanks, heavy weapons. Then turn the artillery on the orkies, go home and have a cold one.

I dunno about imperial guard, but in my Tau army, there is one fire warrior in my fire warrior squad that is replaced by a very scared looking Gretchin with a pulse carbine. (I did it mainly to be funny, but Gretchin would probably be like "Okay don't kill me I'll join the greater good or whatever")

Except for Ghazgkull has left Armageddon, he was bored, and decided to go fightin' somewhere else.

As soon as he heard that the "Big Scrap" was getting interesting again, he would come charging back in. and Yarrick would chase him there.

Yes.

I have a company that was involved in a campaign on Angelis. The troopship was caught in a warpstorm and ended up crashing with numerous pods, fighters, and other smaller escape vehicles getting out before the destruction of the carrier, of course there were still others that ended up going down with the ship and some who even survived.

I took a fraction of the number and started scrounging together a few squads of these guys with warhammer fantasy, IG, and Ork parts. A couple of the squads were rogue, and still others ended up as traitors, who decided that it was a better idea to work with the Ork then die by them.
Subsiquently, the games sometimes ended up a little one sided, with a squad and a vehicle Vs. a Warband with a couple of buggies getting greased. I'd ended up scrounging together a few platoons and some vehicles and later ended up having to put them away. I'd use squads of orks armed similar to an IG squad, and add them in from time to time.

People tend to talk, but feth them, the idea is sound and has alot of cool campaign ideas that reall are fun when you get down to the brass tacks. It gets a little crazy when you want to play one offs with people and they don't know what you are talking about, but when you tell them Gorkamorka with a theme, it comes out better.

Arm the Orks with IG weapons, and adorne them with IG stuff, along with packs and pouches from WW2 model kits, and they fit right in.

Blood Axes work fine, but when they started making Orks Clanless, they work well with the pirate look as well. "Freeboota's" is a book back in the day that let you use Humans, Orks, Genestealer Hybrids, etc. In the same army if you wanted to. lacking that though, Gorka morka was a good one to work with as well.

For the rogue IG, I use the Catachan boxed sets, and Chaos Warriors, as well as a few cold one sprues, and some of the original Muties, diggas, and Gorkamorka bits. They work great with thier scale and the bits look really convincing on the IG guys. With the onset of the GW plastic bit, they have a great selection for both Ork and IG member that you shouldn't have an issue.
Just remember that they would not have any serious officers, commissars, or Imperious influence, so take the idea to the next extreme, and add in Chaos, Tau, Rogue IG or Traitor army options till your hearts content.

I have a couple of boxes of Flagellents, the chaos warriors, and the Mordhiem sprues that I use in there, as well.

Gorkamorka was a setting I participated in when my army was awarded one of those special edition Inquisitors, as well. The guy that looks like a witchhunter with the I on his hat. I still have him and pull him and his Alien scum retnue out every once in awhile.

These guys are a friggin riot when you play Ordo Xenos Inquisition members. One of this guys ships is infested with Ork Spores, and he has a serious snotling and grot infestation problem. before I left on my little trip, I was working on a couple of squads of grots with shooters and Lasrifles. The guy is slightly mad, so he uses troop options from xenos, along with his IG platoon. I've been working on these guys for quite some time, and they are a base army that I call the "Catachan 82d"

Great fun, and always have options for recruits. I really want to add a couple of squads of Dark Elf chicks in for some close combat, but thats another story for another day.....

What i was thinking of:

The Imperial Guards did concure a mine shaft. In the mine shaft they did find a ork tribe captured by other orks. The first idea was the kill the orks. Then somebody came up with the idea that they could study the orks closer and learn how the think. In order to do this voluntary IG troops started to feed the orks and gave human beer to them. The orks realized that the human beer tastes good. The humans developed a system of reward and punish in order to get the orks to do certain tasks. The humans realized that orks are eager to fight and it does not matter who fight against, as long they are rewarded. IG officers developed a rewarding system that gives the orks plenty of loot after victory and with IG weapons a victory over other orks is a real possibility. The orks are trained in the use on IG weapons by seasoned IG NCO:s The risk of flight is minimal because other orks hate this traitor orks more than anything else.
