I've been curious as to which paint line is the better of the two, Vallejo Model or Reaper Master (triad system)? As I git more into the hobby and quality and style becomes an issue, the more it seems things I was unaware of are popping up (too much flow ipmroover, ppigment density, etc). Little help....

Vallejo all the way mate, i use GW and Vallejo.
for Vallejo use the Vallejo game range for good transpancy for blending and highlighting or the Vallejo model range for nice solid colours.
GW dose the best wash's though.

Vallejo will cover better where as Reaper dries harder, it is much less likely to rub off when handeling the model before varnishing. Both are good lines of paint as far as actual paint quality and pigment quality go.

A few of the big-name wargame painting youtubers have touched on the subject, before. Apparently, the Reaper paints are pretty heavy on the flow improver. They're fantastic if you like to wet-blend, but they don't play well with others (issues of cracking and shrinking when applied over other paints). At least, that's what I've been told.
Personally, I use a mix of GW (wash, metallics, and foundations) and VGC (everything else). Providing I ever get around to trying Vallejo's new answers to GW's specialty paints, if it turns out they're up to snuff, I'll be done with GW hobby supplies, entirely.

The GW paints are full on awesome, but Vallejo are supposed to be good. Ive got a tub of Game Colour Fluo Green in the post tho!
Lookin forward to trying it out, cuz I dont like being dependant on one company (who like to put their prices up!)

I've got pretty much everything hah (check my studio pic in my gallery)...
The Reaper MS paints are decent, and the triads are nice and dummy proof but I find I am using them less and less in favor of Vallejo and especially P3.
The P3 colors are just so darn useful on everything.. Umbral Umber, Sanguine Base, and Menoth White base are on like everyone of my models as a nuance, highlight, shadow etc etc...

If I am allowed can I ask which of the Vellejo/P3/Reaper paints are available in canada, Ive tried some hobby and craft centers mostly looking for P3 but I cant find any? Would I have to order online? Sorry if this is breaking any forum rules I just didnt see the need to make a new forum post.
From what I gather I hear Vellejo> then Reaper, but I know Miniwargaming.com uses Reaper for all there vids.

I've been painting and modeling for over 25 years and I have used and still use most of the paints out there. Right now I use Reaper Master Series for the majority of my painting, they are all around excellent.
I also use vellejo paints but I have some issues with them. They have to be shaken at least once a month because of separation. Some of the red and green colors seem to have grit in them sometimes. I don't have any issues with their game colors though.
If I could choose one of the two It would be Reaper all the way.

The only Reaper stuff I've used is the paint on Primer. I haven't tried any of the actual paints. With Vallejo, I have a couple colors that I bought that I really like. I don't remember the names (they were a couple 'greens'). I'm not sure who I'd go for more. I guess I should try some Reaper stuff out... but Vallejo isn't bad.

To chime in again, if I had to pick between Reaper and VGC I'd pick whichever one was avalible to me locally. They are both great series of paints and far excedd anything that GW has ever put out barring washs and metallics.

Oh yeah... I did a pretty thorough 'gold test' a few months ago; I will be writing a blog on MyBattalion at some point. I tested gold paints from VMC, VGC, Reaper MS, GW, Andrea, Tamiya and P3... this was all in prep of painting my Sanguinary Guard.
By far the Andrea and VMC were the easiest to use and thin/mix; the difference was quite significant really. The VMC had the edge on the great selection of gold and complimentary colors however.
As for silver - I think GW Mythril Silver is totally amazing. For all non-metallic colors I generally prefer P3 now.

I suppose I'm chiming in a bit late since you already got some of both lines to try for yourself (probably the best action and what I did myself).
For me, it's reaper without question -I HATE model color paints- but I also like p3 quite a bit. The best thing about reaper paints to me is how they flow off my brush and dont seem to get too thick as they dry out. I adore p3 morrow white and recommend it to anyone.

I started with GW paints and while I still use their Foundations and Washes, I've found Reaper to be better and cheaper. Vallejo though are, by far, the nicest paints I've used. I've yet to see them for sale near me though.

These folks: http:// www.kroegerinc.com seem to be the Canadian distributors for Vallejo in the East and PM Hanson in the West.
Reaper is for sale all over the country (just use the Store Finder on their site) and offers free shipping on orders of $25 or more, which is always nice.
