I am wondering which army to spend my money on Eldar or Dark Angels (I have a bit of both). I particularly like converting and painting the models.
Which army would have better modeling and conversion opportunities for Eldar or Dark Angels?
Thanks in advance.

Eldar -3k
Angels of Deliverance -2k

I think dark eldar have a lot more variety with which to form custom conversions as well as some units without models which offer unique opportunities for creativity.

Do Eldar if you want a challenge. Most of their figs are older sculpts, and are metal.

Dark ngels has about the same conversion opportunities as most other SM armies.

Whats my game?
Warmachine (Cygnar)

Song of Blades & Heroes

Yeah, I'd go for eldar/deldar. They have a better range of conversion opportunities.

Eldar is difficult to convert because of their 'Streamlined' appearance. Dark angels have a lot of potential, look on this very website and you will find many Dark angel conversions. I would say eldar is less of a convertion hound's army, eldar is more about the appreciation of the lovely miniatures.

Well, if it's conversions you love, start an ork army

But out of your two choices, DA are the easiest to convert (so so many marine kits available). Getting Eldar conversions to actually look Eldar is a whole lot of work, due to all those fancy curves they love.

That said, Eldar and Dark Eldar have a lot more interchangeability with High Elf and Dark Elf parts (as well as Wood Elf parts) to make some really nice plastics.

Dark Angels would be good if you love sculpting robes. But if you, like me, think they are tedious to do, then Eldar can make for some fun kitbashing.

Dark Eldar have alot of conversion potential right now due to the lack of models and easy alternatives.

Dark Angels have an equal amount because their upgrade sprue comes with alot of conversion parts and can assemble squads somewhat cheaply on their own. The Ravenwing Battleforce also comes with many goodies for the creative mind to use.

Dark Eldar have tons of converting opportunities now, but they will change by June. Supposedly 90% of the units in the codex will be released by then.

I agree with Clang though. If you want converting opprotunities, I would go with Orks. There is just so much you can do with them:

They aren't a lot from what I notice. If you really want conversions, do nids or orks Those have tons on models needing conversions.

What's that green guy riding the giant ork?
A Wraithlord is always a good one for conversions (at least it looks like it is)...
BTW OP i think some confusion has arisen in this thread, do you wish to scratchbuild or convert existing kits/units?

I say the Dark Eldar. They have lots of cool bitz you can use for all sorts of interesting conversions.

I would suppose i would like to do a bit of both but I would start with conversions of existing kits them maybe move on to scratch building.

All over

If you want the best army for conversions it is Orkz and Chaos. Eldar to me is limited. Dark Eldar isnt bad. Dark angels can be fun if you are going for a fallen army.

The EASIEST of those two will be Dark Angels - there are lots and lots of compatible plastic kits, and lots of extra bits that fit the 'gothic monk' look in the rest of the range.

However, Dark Angels 'image' is very set. You could make some cool models but it's not like you can create a completely uniwue army is you still want them to look like Dark Angels.

Eldar are more difficult, because of less plastics, but the fact that you can make your own Craftworld gives you a lot more scope to create a completely unique army. You could look at the Warhammer Elf ranges or the 40k Dark Elf range for models and extra parts.

For Dark Angels, you could always make some Fallen Angels. They can possess Chaos Icongraphy and possibly Cult-trooper related pieces. Existing DA can be easily intergrated into a Fallen Force by simply repainting them, as Fallens are usually scattered and any coherent force is likely going to be a mishmash of mutants and normal marines.
