Good article, I enjoyed it. I would argue a little about the pallette that is bought, a decent porcelain one is $12 from Amazon (can be bought cheaper elsewhere, my local art supply store has them for just under $10, but here's the amazon link http://www.amazon.com/12-Well-Mini-Porcelain-Palette/dp/B000CDT4E8), and has been invaluable to my painting. The porcelain is *very* easy to clean (soak in water for 10-20 minutes, paint comes right off). If money is truly an issue though, even a $0.30 glazed tile from Home Depot (or any hardware store) would do as well.

For a flow improver, in the US there's a brand called Liquitex that makes all sorts of additives for acrylics, from glazes, to matte, to iridescents (and flow aids, slow-dri, etc). I buy the smaller bottles (which are still quite large by miniature painting standards) and transfer them to empty Vallejo bottles so that the drop sizes can be more easily measured with the normal paints.

Out of my mind, back in 5 minutes.

Very detailed information. Does not cover specific brands of paint but that's been debated to death anyway. This gives lots of information on how the paints work, not just brand x is good brand y is bad.
