I'm much of a "Romero Purist" in that I favor the slow, shambling zombies over the speedy, quick ones.
That's not to say that I don't like "running zombies",as I quite enjoyed 28 Days/Weeks later (even though they weren't zombies in the actual sense) and the remake of Dawn of the Dead.
The talking/brain eating zombies of Return of the Living Dead and it's subsequent seqeuls....bleh...worst thing to ever happen to the genre.

After reading the Osprey Publishing book on zombies, I like all variants, be it Atomic, Viral or Necromantic.

Thats honestly a tough choice. I picked running, only because it scares the gak out of me, and also would mess up ALOT of how to survive a zombie APOC ideas lol

You know what the least scary thing of all time is? Old people.
They can't operate technology.
They're somewhat senile and can't outthink you.
They can't move quickly and just shuffle along.
Their senses are somewhat dulled and they're unaware of their surroundings.
If you give them the craving for human flesh, they'd be exactly the same as Romero zombies.
So, you've got to go with running zombies.
Slow zombies are the "classic" choice, but they simply don't make any sense and aren't scary at all.

It's more fun with Zombie "Classic". Stick around, kill a few, then leave once you start getting tired.

I would like to know death is coming at me, so the more brazen, screaming, you know when they are coming zombies are what I'd prefer.

I personally think any Zombie Appocalypse would be a mix of the two, either the recent turned are fast, and the older zombies are slow, or the slower Zombies are new and the older ones are fast.
Leaning more toward the former, simply because as they start decaying they would start to get slower.

But what if the zombies worked out? Wouldn't they stay in shape longer?

Possibly, though how many Zeds do you think would be able to keep their new year's resolutions to work out?

I'm so freaking sick of the zombies meme. That said, I like the shamblers.

yes but if they are everywhere, in a horde slowly walking towards you, you could waste all your ammo and still get nowhere. Also with sprinting zombies wouldnt their legs fall off.

Shamblers: they are the true zombies.
That being said Left 4 Dead is good fun.

Unless you are unfortunate enough to get cornered with no escape, slow zombies seem more like a nuisance than anything else

Seriously, I live up in the sticks a little ways, can you really see shambling zombies being too threatening when trying to get through underbrush...
