Aloha people,
have a small question about the tervigon, i am going to run two of this guys in my list. and id like to know what is better to have on them.
The question is: cluster spins or stinger salvo.
as i get it the cluster spin is better to pop troops and stinger salvo is good for tanks? or did i get it all ronge.

I've suggested this gets moved to tactics, as this isnt a question about the rules.
For tervigons I just go with the big blast. You dont really need more antitank, and with its low BS an number of shots a nice big blast can be quite helpful.

Stinger salvo - AP4 vs AP- is a big difference against any army not in power armour. There is some difference between large blast and assault 4 ibut less so f your opponent spaces his troops out well.

I always run cluster spines on mine, large blast is more potential damage. Really nice when the Hive Guard pop a transport and all the troops are nice and clustered up for a template thinning out and then charge from your assault troops. I once managed to get 10 SoB under the template after exploding their rhino, wounding on 2+. He made 8 out of 8 3+ saves though.
Cluster Spines;
+Big blast
+Not overly affected by the Tervigon's crumby BS of 3
-Possible collateral damage on your own troops.
-Really bad against vehicles
Stinger Salvo
+AP4
+Better against vehicles then cluster spines
-Bad BS makes it unreliable
-Still poor against power armor
-Not enough shots to make an impact on swarms
Math-hammer time!
Against this save, how many models do you need to get under the template for Cluster to do more damage on average?
2+; 2
3+; 2
4+; 4 (Tied at 3 under template)
5+; 2
6+; 2
So if you can reliably get 2 or more models under the 5" blast, Cluster spines does better against infantry of almost every save. Stinger Salvo is always better against vehicles.
